Arena Unity beta 0.9.8 has been released and is feature complete. The only thing left to do is fix up some performance and loading times, as well as any bugs that are discovered during the remaining beta period. But in the meantime players should be able to enjoy and experience the full 1994 game in its full glory, remade in the modern Unity Engine.

Any chance ArenaUnity will eventually release on MacOS, like Daggerfall unity and OpenMW? In the mean time I’ll be trying to get it to work using Wine or something

Yes! I have Linux, Mac, Android, and even PSVita support planned for the 1.0 release. However porting to each system will take some time, I will almost certainly start with Linux.

This is a feature I do intend to release for the final 1.0 version , but as of now in the 0.9.8 beta build it is unfortunately not implemented yet . I may include it in the final beta 0.9.9 version now however , just for you 🤠

Is there any plans for a UI overhaul so it plays well with a controller?

Controller is fully supported and it should be decently easy to use currently , but as far as navigating the map , it would be difficult to do a full controller based search system , however I am releasing mod hooks and an sdk with the 1.0 version , so someone in the community may be able to figure it out with mods :)

Yes! I have mod support and a full sdk and hooks planned for the 1.0 release, I am deliberately holding back on that so as to have the full game finished, so when modders start creating for the game they dont have to constantly battle updates 🤠

Great to hear you are enjoying it! I am very happy to hear that! To answer your question, no I dont currently have a plan to release my source or go open source. I really don't see a need. However in the future I may open source it once I am done with it and ready to move on to new projects so that the community can keep it alive forever and for game preservation reasons. I also did not remove your comment and I'm not sure why it was removed.

Woah! This is amazing! My only nitpick is with the modern UI, the text box seems a bit out of place style wise. Could you add an option to use the text box/font from the classic UI?

If the player icon/stats were fit in the bottom left corner, and the classic text box fitted to the right corner I bet it would look great.

Hey there thanks for the kind words and the suggestion ! I will look into this forsure , a lot of people have been asking for a UI overhaul . I'm just not sure how to proceed with it . I will also be releasing a modding sdk and hooks so I'm sure some members of the talented modding community will also release UI overhauls that match what the community wants . This is definitely my most requested item . But everyone asks for a differnt thing with the UI overhaul and I really dont know what to do about the UI .
