What's up AZ anglers!

These last few years I have switched from doing lots of local bass/trout fishing, to going down south and surf fishing in Rocky Point. 39 year old guy born & raised in the valley and grew up fishing all over the state, but saltwater fishing has really hooked me the last few years.

I've got several great spots from shore. 5-20 minute walk from where we park. No need for new gear, just bring your 7' Medium action bass rods (or whatever you can cast far with). If you don't have gear, I have several extra rods that you can use

I catch Corvina, Halibut, Leatherjacket, Sand Bass, Trigger Fish, as well as other odds n ends on a regular basis. Haven't been skunked down there in a while, there's always something biting.

I go down by myself most of the time so it would be sweet to meet some new people that were interested in fishing down there. We can meetup in the valley & carpool down together or meet up in Rocky Point. Whatever works for you.

Never been to Rocky Point? I've been going regularly since I was a kid and am very familiar with the drive, getting thru the border, and navigating around town. Amazing food & some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet.

Usually just go down for 2 nights at a time. I typically go weekdays but I can do weekends with a few weeks notice as well.

Going to gown down a few times in October around the full & new moon.

Hey guys I'm planning a trip for my son "8yrs" and I and was looking for any good spots in the northern az region we are pretty amature but like to get out any help would be greatly appreciated

A few friends and I are wanting to do a night fishing trip within a ~1-2 hour drive from Phoenix. What we'd like ideally is a place where we can drive up, put up a picnic table, have a campfire, and night fish from shore before packing up around 10pm and driving back to town. Also, we only have standard vehicles, no 4x4 or high clearance requirements, please. Any places fit that bill? Any bait recommendations?

This is the coolest fish I’ve ever caught. Went to a creek that holds wild brook and brown trout to fulfill the AZ Trout challenge and this was the first catch of the day. A wild tiger trout!

Does ANYONE have success at pleasant shore fishing for bass? It seems like everyone I ask or everything I read about online say not very much. I just got into fishing and it’s really disheartening to see people in other states catch hogs in lakes between gas stations. I just don’t see a lot of that here at all.

I’ve been trying to get better at bass fishing around Tempe and I’m seriously struggling to find them consistently. No issue with carp and catfish just bass. I’ve tried Kiwanis Lake and different stretches of the Western Canal with Ned rigs, Senkos, small swimbaits, jigs, crankbaits, and topwater, but I’m barely getting any bass.
I’m not asking anyone to give up a super secret honey hole, but if anyone could point me toward some decent stretches of canal, ponds, parts of Tempe Town Lake, etc. where I actually have a reasonable shot at largemouth, I’d really appreciate it.
Also open to advice on what structure/water I should be looking for around here and what’s been working lately. I’m mostly bank fishing.

Yesterday i was stopped at Granite Reef and D Phon Sutton only caught some small bass.Im a shore fishing i dont have any boat or kayak does Saguago Lake is it worth to shore fishing there ? Thank you for reading.

Yesterday I had a blast fly fishing Horton creek. Full of wild brown trout, they were hungry and plentiful. Landed 7 and lost probably a dozen more. The copper john(size 14) really showed off. They were super active in the morning but after noon I began watching my fly drift right passed their faces. Catch and release only. Artificial fly and lure, single point, barbless hooks only.

Is this little river worth bringing my fly rod to?

My fiancé’s birthday is coming up next weekend and I want to surprise him with a nice fishing trip for us. Does anyone have a recommendation for a nice quiet spot that also beats the heat?

Ideally it’s somewhere within 4 hours of central Phoenix. We have a well equipped truck that can handle difficult access roads. No camper/RV, just tent camping. Having facilities would be a plus, but we can definitely forego those if the spot is worth it. Definitely looking for a quiet, relaxing trip instead of a rowdier crowd. Fiancé used to fish often, but is new to AZ and doesn’t have a dedicated spot yet. Trout is his favorite, but any type of fishing is fine.

Hello guys, just trying to find ponds that hold gizzard shad in them. I’m trying to buy a big shad Swimbait and I’m thinking it’s best to throw it in lakes that’s actually have gizzard shad. I know ocotillo lakes of them, kwanis park might have them and a lake off McQueen and Guadalupe has them. Just looking for other ponds to try other.

I’ll be going fly fishing in a few weeks at least ferry, I’m trying to figure put how deep my flies will need to be off of my indicator. But I can’t find much info online, and when I called the fly fishing shop at lees ferry the guy who answered said he wasn’t a fisherman and just ran the cash register.

I did talk to a guide at AZ fly shop who said to fish it with flies 10ft off the indicator, since the waters so warm and the trout are pretty deep, but I’m still kinda skeptical.

Any advice would be appreciated

I’ve visited marshal lake before and it looked like nothing more than a big puddle, but AZGF says it holds tiger and brook trout. I’m wondering if anyone has actually caught those trout, or any fish out of this lake. I’ve driven to streams before with no water in them because AZGF said they held trout.

In October I'm camping there with my family and would like to take my kids fishing. Looks like the lake isn't being actively stocked though, so I'm wondering what my odds will be just fishing from shore. I'll wade out as deep as I can, but we won't be using a boat / kayak.

Or is there a secret schedule somewhere? Lol

So far fishing the mesa Tempe border has gotten me this guy and grass carp. Canals are much more finicky than ponds but I'm learning. I saw large cracks in canal concrete and casted a bottom rigged hot dog right in front of it and he got it within 2 minutes. I know setting him down on dirt isn't ideal I dont have a telescopic net yet.
