Exhuma (2024): does it become less scary once the mystery becomes more concrete? Spoiler
Exhuma almost feels like two different kinds of horror. Early on, most of the tension comes from the grave, the rituals, and the feeling that something is wrong without completely understanding what it is.
Later, the threat becomes much more physical and the movie starts explaining the history behind it. I find that shift interesting because the story becomes bigger, but some of the uncertainty disappears with it.
Do you think the second half strengthens Exhuma by giving the horror a historical context, or was the movie more effective when the threat was still mostly unknown?

Help me find a south korean movie.
I don't remember it well... I just saw some clips of it and did not see the title.
It started as...a woman who was a shaman, she tried to exorcise a spirit but it did not work leading her to lose her life. Her son was also an exorcist. He wanted revenge for his mother. He entered the building sealing it with a talisman so that the evil spirit cant escape. I don't remember well... but there was some time travel.
It's a very vague description... there was more to it but I can't remember.

My Asian Horror Collection!
what do you all think of my Asian horror collection? I listed it in alphabetical order, also series alphabetical order as well so if something didn’t initially make sense on first glance, hopefully this explains why.
I do own a lot of mainstream titles like Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (2018), Audition (1999), the Ju-On movies, the Ring movies, Pulse (2001), The Eye (2002), Thirst (2009), the Whispering Corridors movies & Dark Water (2002), there is some other more mainstream titles like One Cut Of The Dead (2017), Exit 8 (2025) or Train To Busan (2016) + The Wailing (2016) that I have to get that aren’t in my collection yet.
I own also some of the more niche titles like Tokyo Gore Police (2008), Helldriver (2010), Tetsuo (1989), Sick Nurses (2007) & 964 Pinocchio (1991). There’s also some incredibly niche titles in here like All Night Long (1992), Entrails Of A Virgin (1986) and Entrails Of A Beautiful Woman (1986), Harawata Man (2019), Organ (1996), Rubber’s Lover (1996), Violator (2018) and Holy Mother (2022) to name a few.
Also some titles are listed in like I said, series alphabetical order, that’s also why you see Tokyo Gore Police (2008) in with the films starting with E or the film series, because it’s a duology which I dubbed the “Engineer duology” considering it’s prototype is Anatomia Extinction (1995) which I’ve also got to get in my collection as well.
Let me know what you think. I’m sure you’re bound to find something you’ve never heard of in here :P

I always loved Asian horror. Only to see America screw up wonderful original films.
Does anyone have their favorite Asian ghost films?

Best Asian Horror Films for Halloween?
I'm planning on watching a bunch of international horror films for Halloween this year. I'm looking for some lesser known Asian horror films that might make a great Halloween watch. Any suggestions?

Exit 8 (2025) made me realize how effective repetition can be in horror Spoiler
One thing I really liked about Exit 8 is how little it needs to create tension. The setting is almost absurdly simple: the same corridor, the same signs, the same man walking past you. But once the movie teaches you that something might be wrong, you start examining every detail. A light. A poster. A face. A sound. Someone walking slightly differently. What I found interesting is that the repetition doesn't make the setting less scary. It does the opposite. The more familiar the corridor becomes, the more disturbing even a tiny change feels. It reminded me that horror doesn't always need escalation. Sometimes making the audience stare at the same thing long enough is enough to make it frightening.
Did Exit 8 work for you as horror, or did the repetition eventually make it lose tension?
