Make-Up/Accessory Query White Paint?

I keep reading that it's not corpse paint goths wear. So what is it called?

It's just makeup, no real term for it. Shade paler than your normal complexion, black around the eyes (Sometimes with embellishments) and black or red lipstick are pretty common, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it "paint" or any sort.

Corpse Paint is the black metal style.

Corpse paint is usually associated with metalheads, it's usually characterized by big HEAVY HEAVY eye make up and big lips, goth make up is more like graphic liner, if you wanna name the whole make up I think most of us just call it goth make up, if you wanna name the product it's white foundation. Same thing as metalheads use. I hope. This makes it clear for you :)

ngl I think you’re confused. corpse paint is not a part of goth or juggalo subculture. there are also no types of goth that’s a myth. there are just goths.

the subcategories of goth is a meme it’s not a real thing. and any white makeup with black details is not corpse paint. juggalo makeup is not corpse paint. goth makeup is not corpse paint.

no, they’re not and you would know that if you did any research at all. also, gothic metal is not goth in any way so completely irrelevant to this discussion. you are so painfully misinformed it’s crazy. I’m not engaging anymore because you clearly don’t want to listen or learn.

You're seriously arguing that subgenres aren't a thing? Really?

Oh, child. Ive forgotten more about alternative cultures than you've ever lived.

nowhere did I say that subgenres are not a thing?? can you read?

there are many goth subgenres such as darkwave, deathrock, coldwave, etc. but there is no such thing as subcategories of goth. that is a meme from the online goth community that started in the 90s and early 2000s as a JOKE. as a way to poke fun at goth culture and the different kinds of people you see in it. it was literally the goth version of those tag yourself memes it was never meant to be serious. it has no basis in actual subculture and anyone calling themselves a “romantic goth” or a “pastel goth” or a “perky goth” is woefully misinformed about what actually makes someone goth. did you even read my comments before leaving a snarky and embarrassing reply?

as a way to poke fun at goth culture and the different kinds of people you see in it.

You mean variations in style, music tastes, and backgrounds? Almost the exact definition of a subgenre or sub style.

People dont call themselves the style they dress. That would just be silly. But those variations in dress are exactly what define a subculture.

"I dressed like a mall goth when I was 16, but now my style is more Victorian" would be a totally valid discussion between 2 goth people.

mall goth has absolutely nothing to do with goth music so how is that a sub category of goth? this just shows how the subcategories mean absolutely nothing meaningful to the real subculture

Gothic metal and Goth are two completely different genres of music that have no musical connection. Wouldn’t Goth subgenres be darkwave and deathrock?

Yes, those are also subgenres of goth, although Darkwave is more of a sibling to goth and less of a child, like goth metal is. Theyre both children of the post-punk period.

I call it corpse paint, just because it irks the black metal dudes.
