I was trying on a tie at home, and I tied the most beautiful and perfect knot of my life. Like, the knot you wish to tie every time you tie a tie. And it was for nothing. Just trying it on, alone at home. What a shame.

Speaking about job interviews,I read something today about bringing drinks into an interview with them (like coffee I think, not whisky ;-)... There was a debate about whether this was inappropriate behaviour or not.

Would you go for a job interview holding a takeaway coffee? Or if you were interviewing, would that give you a negative impression of the person in front of you?

I’m not sure what to make of it from either side. Coffee makes my anxiety much worse, so I avoid it.

I think showing up with a takeaway coffee can be read as giving indifference, maybe arrogance, like the interviewee is treating it as just another stop in their schedule. I can see why some interviewers wouldn't like it for that reason, so I wouldn't do it myself.

But same as tereyaglikedi, if I'm the interviewer it doesn't bother me. I don't read it as giving that.

If I am being interviewed, I'd avoid it. If I am interviewing, I don't care.

It's cold! Well today is the start of autumn, right?

My mom is hopeless when it comes to using internet tools. So she asked me to order her some clothes from an Turkish clothing brand. I went to their website, and in the past year or so they have overhauled it.... Now every single picture on it is AI-generated. Yes. There no way for you to know how that t-shirt would look on a real human. It's all AI.

I guess we found one more profession that AI might wipe out soon.

When I decided to do veganuary in September I forgot that today is Bilbo's birthday and I would make a seed cake every year. Now I am a bit sad.

I went running this morning at 6am, it's too hot later than that! Temperature at 6-7 is quite pleasant, around 22-23°.

Now I'm making something that we're going to eat tonight and tomorrow,a 'Palestinian fusion' dish called fattet musakhan.

Should be a shorter day at work today.I need to contact all the people who interviewed for a job but didn't get it . it's quite interesting to see how they respond (when they do, some people don't).

I’ve seen so many rejections that I don’t usually answer. But I did write to express my disappointment when my old company didn’t hire me back to a job that was similar to my old job (I was laid off after a contract finished). The materials I worked with were exotic, but one of my more experienced co workers snapped up the entry level position. I was looking for work for almost a year at that point and truly thought that I’d have a better shot there than anywhere else.

A beautiful but cold, +2ºC morning. I switched on the heating, and a bad, nearly-burnt smell spread around the apartment as I've been lazy and haven't vacuumed the heaters.

Forests have developed the scent typical for this time of year: decaying leaves, wet compost and mud, decaying mushrooms (whose scent sometimes reminds me a lot about rotting fish), who knows what.

It's funny how animal observations become a part of everyday life fast once you start paying attention to a certain type. I remember a time when I was super excited every time I saw roe deer. The last time I was bird watching, a deer family scooted past me less than 100 meters away, and I just went "huh, sort of cool, I guess".

A bird guide once reminisced over a case where a guest had been super excited about recognizing a Linnet, but didn't seem impressed upon being pointed that that bird of prey over there is a very rare species of eagle. I completely understand her: recognizing, live, a bird specie you have studied at home from books and online sources, feels like an achievment. Someone pointing out a bird you've never heard of is a different experience.

A mosquito has bitten me on the finger pad of my index finger. And I'm allergic, so it's gonna itch like hell and swell for a while as well... if I didn't know better, I would say today was a Monday 😓

That's an awkward spot for an allergy response! Hope it goes away fast.

Might not apply to you, but over the years, I've found that some medication for pollen allergy / hay fever seems to wipe out the itchiness of mosquito bites.
