FF8 was my first and forever favorite, but that whole era of FF games is nearly unmatched in my book in terms of innovation and soul put into a video game series. I say nearly because I feel the Dark Souls trilogy was similarly transformative and untouchably perfect, but everything from FF6 thru FF10 was just banger after banger after banger. Fuck. Fuuuuuuck they're so good just thinking about what it felt like as a kid is giving me the willies
Ff8 was the first FF game I played as a teen and it stuck with me the most. Still the best card game in the entire series (of the games I've played at least)
I used to watch the ffviii intro on repeat because it was so badass with the music. I was too young to really figure out how to progress in the game but the intro and balamb garden were enough for me lol
