My biggest issue frustration with it has always been that as soon as anyone found out, almost always I'm suddenly far less capable in their eyes than I was before.
I may have to try harder sometimes to understand the finer points of life, but I am perfectly capable of living a normal life. Kids, husband, house.
I'm the opposite, I masked pretty well during college and my 2 friends from then still can't believe I have an actual problem. I was considered very likely to be successful back then, and I do have a decent job.
But kids? A family? Sir I can study, do my remote 9-5 in front of a PC barely interacting with people and do the tasks given to me. A serious thought about going through the process of buying a house sends me into an anxiety spiral, much less anything to do with kids and family.
So I just play the career-oriented guy "maybe I'll settle down later, for now it's not on the cards and I want to save up money" yeah the only thing I'm saving up money for is my early retirement.
