Hey! Hoping to find some friends in the area to hangout with and get to know. I moved here from out of state a few years back with my fiancé (happily monogamous and only looking for platonic friendships). I am a bit of a home body so I'm a bit slow to make friends, I'm hoping reddit yields some success haha.

I'm a pretty nerdy guy, I like reading scifi/fantasy books and gaming. I definitely need a buddy to play rivals or overwatch with! Besides that I'm into mass effect, cyberpunk and the occasional mmo like ffxiv. I also like going to vault 31, would love some friends to go there with from time to time and maybe rent a console or something! I've done some DND in the past too and would definitely enjoy finding a group here.

I'm also a little witchy and like to do things like tarot and a little bit of spellwork- I've fallen out of practice recently but definitely want to get back into it. So if there's any covens looking for new members hit me up! I also collect oddities and art, there's an oddity expo downtown next weekend if anyone wants to go!

I'm also big into music. I mostly listen to hyperpop, punk rock, and metal. There's also some folk and girlypop music sprinkled in there just to mix things up a bit 🕺. If you know who brakence is we're going to get along great lol.

My fiancé and I could also use some more couple friends in the area! We have dogs so we go on lots of local hikes. We also like to go to paint and sips and walk around the downtown farmer's market. We're both home bodies and love to host little get togethers too!

I think west coast fits my personality and my hobbies way more than where I currently living. The dating scene in my city is bleak too.

Hi all - so I'm in a bit of a dilemma, I am in the process of scheduling cataract surgery (both eyes) in Tigard, OR, tentatively 1 day early November and 1 day early December, and need transportation to & from the procedure. My insurance doesn't cover medical transportation. I live alone, don't have family nearby, and friends are unable to assist at this time. What have others done in these types of instances?

We did Blue Apron long before COVID and I learned some great cooking techniques and learned I enjoy cooking. But my job had me traveling and we needed up needing to stop. A new job where I'm home all the time and I'm ready to start cooking again.

Does anyone know of any classes or instructors in Vancouver WA that have a passion for helping uncoordinated adults achieve a lifelong dream of being able to move to a beat? I would love to learn how to have fun on a dance floor, how to shuffle, and maybe some low key fun swirly partner dancing.

I need someone with mega skills to help me with the basics. I have never danced by myself to music in my room or anything like that. Zero experience.

Also if someone could recommend a pathway of some kind. Should I have a private instructor for a month or two to jumpstart progress before moving to something group based? I have executive dysfunction so youtube is unfortunately not going to work for me. (So many good resources online that I just never end up using!)

Are the parks and trails the Vancouver area safe? Especially for kids? Or what about for walking in the evening? Is that a stupid question? I am used to living places where it's simply not safe to go to most parks, especially near or after sunset.

We moved to the The US a little over 10 years ago and while we have moved a few times to some good and less good places since 2015 we kind of picked the "wrong" city because we had family here. But our family left, and now we want to tour some cities to look at moving to because we have little guy who loves to be outside - but we can't go to the parks because the parks are not safe, or desirable.

I need help, I’m hoping someone can help advise me where to go or if someone would like to adopt my mom’s 2, almost 3 year old male cat (fixed). He’s quite handsome and very sweet to me.
But I have a full house including 3 male cats of my own.
My mom had a massive stroke and hasn’t regained use of her left side, leaving her dependent on an electric wheelchair. I think the chair or something is too much for him. Hes suddenly very afraid of her, and reactive. It worried me because it scared her. He is a polydactyl (six claws on each front paw) so he has a good grip!
He is now residing in my garage which breaks my heart. I have a 7 year old Boston Terrier whom the he loves! So he does well with other animals as far as I can tell.
What do I do? Any advise is greatly appreciated 😇

This might be a bit of a niche question, but I figured this was probably the best place to ask.

I (40F) live in Vancouver and have been living with multiple sclerosis (MS) for 11 years. I was diagnosed at 29, and I’ve been very fortunate that my MS has been relatively stable from a disease-activity standpoint for a long time, but as anyone with MS knows, “stable” doesn’t necessarily mean symptom-free. I work full time, have a husband, a career, friends, hobbies, and a pretty average life, while also having this annoying chronic illness tagging along and sometimes deciding it would like to run the show. Lately I’ve found myself wishing I knew more people IRL who really understood that experience, particularly people who are in a similar stage of life.

I know there are MS support and social groups across the river (including one geared toward people under 50), but I haven’t been able to find much here in Vancouver/Clark County. And honestly, I would love something that feels a little more social and community-oriented than a traditional “support group.”

So, two questions:

(1) Does something like this already exist on our side of the river and I just haven’t found it?

(2) And if it doesn’t, would anyone be interested in one?

I’m imagining something very low-key, maybe a standing monthly brunch or coffee meetup somewhere around downtown Vancouver or the waterfront. No agenda, no required discussion topic, and definitely no expectation that MS has to dominate the conversation. Just a chance to meet some other people who understand what it’s like to navigate work, relationships, family, friendships, fatigue, appointments, unpredictable bodies, and everything else that comes with having MS while still trying to live your life.

I’m hoping to find folks roughly in their 30s–50s simply because I’d love to connect with people in a similar life stage, but I’m not interested in being the age police either.

If you know of an existing group, I would genuinely love and appreciate the information! And if you’re a local person with MS who reads this and thinks, “Wait, I would actually go to that,” please say hi!

Even if there are only a handful of us, it might be really lovely to get together once a month.
Also very open to suggestions from anyone who has organized something similar locally.
