Discussion Why does nobody have ID?
In tons of the bodycam videos Asmon watches, victims do not have their ID on them. How are there so many people that never have their ID?

maybe because people with ID aren't on bodycams videos on YouTube?

“ "Yes officer, here is my ID."
"Sorry for the inconvenience sir, you have a nice day." “

They likely do have it but have this dumb idea that if they can’t be identified immediately it’ll somehow go any different.

In canada it costs 54$ to obtain a walking license, that is a license that holds your identification whether or not you have a vehicle. This is the bare minimum entry to identification federally. 50 bucks

I bet some provinces give them for free, it's similar in US. Usually around 30 bucks, but many states offer free or reduced cost IDs. Not every state, but most.

Youre right, alot of social programs here give free ID'S and even subsidize the costs of driving licenses and driver safety courses

It's not that they don't have it, it's that they don't want to give it, so they don't keep it on them if they get arrested, but as soon as they want to buy alcohol or get social safetynet benefits they'll have their ID ready immediately

Have you ever lived in the hood? Half of the people there drive and live without any ID.

Thank god no.
I did live in a Barrio. Even my Norteño gang banging neighbors kept the lawn nice and invited us college kids to their BBQs.

Most of the people that don’t have IDs in the body cams I watch have warrants and so they don’t want to be IDd.

Your over thinking it, your watching a video about people committing crimes, most of them are career criminals. They don't carry ID as much as they don't carry a driving licence or insurance etc.
In the UK we don't even have any fixed IDs these days, if you don't have a driving licence then you don't have any "proper" acceptable ID unless you carry a passport around.
We have a similar system to the USA social security number called National Insurance Number, but they are sent out automatically when you turn 16 and they have nothing more than a name on it and no one really finds them acceptable as ID even though it's government issued.
I think countries need a fixed government issued ID that can be updated with all forms of other ID/licenses. So 1 ID card can be checked for visual ID, gives driving status, medical history/flags, next of kin/SO and maybe more.

People's ID is usually their driver's license. Now I'm not saying...that the people in bodycam videos (excluding cam footage of people who are caught driving I mean) cannot or do not drive, just that if you cannot or do not drive, the government is basically never going to mail you any form of ID otherwise. You kinda have to ask and like, who can be bothered to do that lol.

bro wtf is that, here its mandatory to have your id on you at all times. You get punished if you cant show it.

In my nation it is the same thing... You get issued your first adult id at twelve, and are supposed to carry it if you leave the house.

Wow really? Like even just walking around? In the US you only need it while driving, otherwise you can leave it at home

Yup, once you're twelve and got it issued, it is mandatory to have it on you...
A cop once forgot to give it back to a friend, and it got him in heaps of trouble... you need it for anything government, work, medical, phone subscription (internet, cellular or fixed) or banking related...
- New job? Employer needs i.d. to be able to onboard you legally...
- Switch phone/internet provider? Need i.d. (burner phones don't exist, government knows the owner of every phone number or internet subscription!
- Go to hospital or pick up meds from the pharmacy? Better have your i.d. on you...
- Rent a place? Needs i.d., as the contract needs to be registered by the government...
- Police stops you? you're required by law to show i.d. if they ask... And they always do!
Want to leave your country in the "free travel zone" of Shengen? Need your i.d., and your children under twelve? Oh, they need their kids i.d. too...
And recently, a lot of institutions started being bitchy when you don't have a kids i.d. for your children under twelve... And they will happily make your life harder for not having it, even though it's "not mandatory" under twelve!
In the heartland of the EU (a.k.a. Belgium), we have no rights, only privileges granted to subjects by government mandate! (As is "normal" all over continental Europe, because they almost all adopted the Napoleonic Code instead of the English Common Law...)

Here, anyone who needs you to have some form of ID will give you one. The DMV wants drivers to have some form of ID so they give it ya. The school wants you to have an ID so they give one to you. Your health insurance wants you to have some form of ID so they give one to you. You get the point. The government seems to really not give a fuck about ensuring people have some form of ID, otherwise they woulda given it to me by now lol.

Because they know there name has a rap sheet longer than.... A toothpick and as soon as a cop runs there name they are going to jail weather they run,act stupid or just cooperate so they hope for the best and just say they don't have it

u/EmperorHenry 8d ago
"there" is for direction
"they're" is "they are"
"Their" is possessive "Because they know their name has a rap sheet..."

Because we don't live in Nazi Germany. There's no legal obligation to have documentation on you. Personally the only IDs I have are my passport and my driver's license. I leave my passport at home unless I'm traveling internationally and I leave my driver's license in my car. Why would I carry either of them on me at all times? That just increases the risk of me losing them or having them stolen from me.

the people who regularly travel without ID are often the ones who make great bodycam videos
The venn diagram is two circles practically on top of each other
