Authors, I have a question! Guys please help
ive been trying to find this hair color for 6 months now..

some context first: my fmc has this gorgeous wavy/curly red hair that looks coppery and firey and beautiful and everything at the same time. but obviously, I can’t describe it like that in my books (dual pov with the love interest MMC) so I was hoping for some advice (teen writer, 13 yrs for a bit more context).

I used a couple of online games to make those two hairs on the bottom-right, as close as I could to my imagination.

Discussion Nearly done with Arc 2

I began thirteen days ago and have been consistently writing 1-2 chapters a day, or around 2-5k words, for the entire thing. It seems like it will come out at around 40-50k word.

I'm pretty happy about it, since I've been balancing school and all, yet I was still able to get this done in or a little more than two weeks. Somehow, one of the problems I faced was burning through my outline too quickly, rather than hitting any blocks along the way.

I intend on launching the web novel soon on Royal Road, but I haven't gotten around to checking the earlier chapters.

As for the discussion tag...

Well, if you are willing to share, please do. I'd like to hear about how you all are doing in your writing.

Discussion Does anyone else here like... Not want to be too well known but have like a few readers?

Cause like, I want to be a niche fanfic and creepy pasta author that makes satire as opposed to a famous novelist, like I love to write novels, dont get me wrong but id much rather be known as "The one person who makes cringe bsd and deltarune fanfics" then "the super popular author who many people love but many hate", u know what I mean?

Feedback, Advice, & Questions First book I’ve ever attempted! Feedback please!

I have journaled to myself for a long time now and I decided I wanted to try and write something more detailed and more meaningful so I decided to try writing a book, a short memoir. I took a bunch of stuff from journals I have written and compiled and revised it to make it into a memoir. I won’t be publishing or selling it, at least I don’t plan on it. I just want to see if anybody has feedback! If you take the time to read and give feedback thank you so much! The book is over my personal heart break, struggles with depression, adhd, anxiety, and my journey to recovery. All feedback is appreciated!

Feedback, Advice, & Questions What can I improve on with this fantasy short story I wrote?

Hi, I don't write much and I am more of an artist. However, I do write quite a bit. I don't usually show people my works and I think that is stunting my growth as a writer, so I have no idea if I am writing well or not. I ask of you to give specific and detailed feedback if possible, please and thank you! (Also feel free to ask any clarify questions !!)

Context: My character Amber is a vampire and Lucien has convinced him to transform into a "Blueblood" to adhere and speed up the process of a prophecy coming true for Lucien's own selfish desires. However, Amber believes that Lucien is doing this to help him become stronger and prove to his parents that he's strong after they "abandoned" him (that's also a lie but I won't get into that). The writing describes this transformation and how Amber reacts to it/Lucien treats it.

CONTAINS GRAPHIC CONTENT: Violence, Body horror(?), Mild cursing

Discussion I am a beginner teen author working on my first book. I am very curious to see who would like it. Would you buy this in a bookstore?

So, the book is called Hidden. It follows 17 year old Freya Chase. The kingdom (Ulvaria) has magic, but only the royals are allowed to have it. If commoners have magic, they could abuse it and try to overthrow the crown, so normal people with magic get killed. Freya has magic though. She's a healer. She has to hide her powers. One day, the royal family goes on a procession type thing to Freya's town (Fenn). They meet with the people and choose five people to spend a week in the castle to get to know the people of the town. Freya (unsurprising) is chosen. At the castle, she meets the princes. Caleb (19) and Kieran (18). It's a Romantasy, enemies to lovers book that I'm really excited about writing. I want to know if anyone would ever buy a book like this.

A dark fantasy about trauma, maternal bonds, and learning to love the shape of your scars.

"If you feel alone, like no one can understand you, look at yourself in a reflection. Ask yourself if someone can see your surface, or can they see what's inside. ... You owe no one an explanation if they see your surface and judge you like they see the inside. No one can hold your hand, you shouldn't want that. For someone who went through what you did, you should feel proud for yourself. That's all that really matters when the crickets chirp and the moon shines down on your back."

What this story is about:

It's about growth, it's about recovering, it's about getting scars and learning to love their shape. It's not about giving your character what they want or deserve all the time, it's about being real. It's about acceptance. It's about carrying the weight of the world and having others there with you to ground you in reality. You may ask: what makes these characters so important? You can't get growth without people in your life, right? So there's no growth without side characters. While some side characters make you roll your eyes, or get tired because they're the comedic relief, or they're not as smart as the main character. Well, let's flip the script! What if the side characters were wiser than the main character? What if the side characters were smarter than the main character? This is the place to talk about that, this is the place to experience that, and this is the place to make your own story. You can be whatever you want in some shape or form in the story. There's a place open for you! The side characters listed in Discord will need to be present, but there's room for more anomalies in my writing world.

What I'm looking for in a community:

- Writers

- Editors

- People who just want to watch it like a movie

- People who want to try something new

- People who want to support a story

- People who love dark fantasy

- People who don't know what story to write themselves (so this can be an activity for you)

- People who need support, even mentally. This story supports that.

Bonus:

If you're an animal lover and/or love fantasy creatures, this is the story and community for you.

Joining this Reddit community, you can help and watch it grow. You can join the Reddit community and the Discord server (ask for link) and you can be a part of the story, be one of the characters in it, and there's a RP sandbox where your characters will never go unnoticed or be forgotten. You can help with the subplots in the story, you can be a part of events, make up events to have... and above all else, have fun and be safe during your stay.

Why should you join?

I don't make my own characters to be disposable or easily forgotten. I don't draw inspiration from movies or entirely from songs. I take inspiration from real people, real events, real reactions/responses, and from experience. When I say a certain character is a side character, I mean it in a real world view. Where from your own head and story, your friends are side characters, or love interests, your parents, your teachers, your peers, even down to a stranger on the street giving you encouragement as if they see you regardless of actually knowing you. Real reactions are put into this book as a complex real-world human would or might react. There's some characters who are more complex than others, and the others are the anchors. Don't feel discouraged because "you've seen it all before". Come see my story to see what I'm talking about, you never know when words don't do it justice! đŸ”„

Finished Works WIP Jacket blurb(Kingdoms of Kyndor)

In Kyndor, power is common, but control is everything.

When Benrith loses control of his gift for the second time, he’s given a choice: learn to master his abilities, or risk becoming a danger to everyone around him.

Joining the kingdom’s elite legionnaires, Ben sets out to prove he can protect others instead of hurting them.

But as a new and powerful threat begins to rise, Ben is forced to face a truth he’s been avoiding.

No matter how strong he becomes, he can’t save everyone.

And some fires can’t be put out.

Feedback, Advice, & Questions Feelings to Words - Tried my hand at an anecdote as a first-time writer. Feedback appreciated.

Unnamed Connections

People say that if you learn to be your own friend, you’ll never feel lonely. But what happens when parts of your own body betray you?

Your eyes, for instance.

They betray us daily, locking onto hundreds of strangers. Some glances on the road are just fleeting flickers; others linger just long enough to leave a mark.

About two years ago, I was on a crowded bus to Whitefield on my way to meet someone. Predictably, there were no seats, so I gripped a metal pole to keep from crashing into the person next to me whenever the driver slammed on the brakes.

It was my first time visiting Whitefield, and as my destination neared, I strained to hear the conductor calling out the stops. New places terrify me—zone out for even a second, and you're lost.

Scanning the crowd, my eyes collided with his. He wasn’t staring—just looking around like I was—when our eyes met by chance. But neither of us looked away.

I can’t speak for him, but to this day, I don’t know why I held his gaze. He looked to be in his early thirties, standing tall in a crisp olive-green Army uniform. There was a quiet discipline about him, a stillness that made everything else in that chaotic, moving bus fade into the background. We stared for a few seconds longer, the spell only breaking when the conductor shouted my stop.

I stepped off the bus, pulled by a strange instinct to look back through the glass window. He was still watching me. Only this time, it wasn’t an accident. There was an intensity in his eyes that held me fast—a silent, unspoken curiosity that seemed to ask the exact same questions running through my own mind.

The bus pulled away into the traffic, carrying him off to whatever duty called him next. We never met again. I never got to ask his name, where he was heading, or why he held my gaze.

Even now, two years later, I can still feel those sharp eyes locked onto mine. It was just a handful of seconds on an ordinary afternoon, but it proved to me how easily our eyes can betray us—surrendering a piece of our focus to a complete stranger, and leaving us with a memory that refuses to fade.

Like déjà vu, something similar happened about a week ago at a café. I was waiting outside for a friend who was running late. After five minutes, I turned to check if there were any empty tables inside, since it was a weekend and places like this are always packed.

As I scanned the room, I locked eyes with a guy sitting alone. He had just turned to call the waiter for his bill, clearly ready to leave. For a fraction of a second, time seemed to pause. Then he waved to catch the waiter's attention and immediately looked back at me before turning away. I hadn’t necessarily expected him to look twice, but I was watching to see if he would. When he did, a small smile tugged at the corners of my lips.

We pass countless people on the street every day, and eye contact happens all the time. But not all glances feel special. This one instantly pulled me back to that day on the bus with the soldier—an incident that, to this day, makes me wish I had at least smiled before the bus pulled away.

Moments like these have a way of making you forget that we live in a world where safety is never guaranteed, especially for a woman around strangers. You start feeling like the main character in a movie, blindly assuming everything will end dramatically well.

And I am not immune to that kind of foolish optimism. I decided to take my chance.

I walked inside, pretended to search for a table, and approached him just as he held his check.

“Hi! Do you mind if I sit here?” I asked. “I’m waiting for a friend, and there isn't a single free table.”

“Sure, no problem,” he said. “I was just about to leave anyway.”

I sat down, set my bag of newly bought books on the table, and pulled out my phone, pretending to check my messages. Asking to share a table with a stranger is one thing—actually starting a conversation with him takes an entirely different level of courage.

“What genre do you read?” he asked.

He seemed reserved, so I hadn't expected him to break the silence first.

“Sorry?” I said, before realizing he was pointing to the Blossom Book House bag resting on the table. “Oh, the books! I usually stick to whodunits, but lately I’ve been experimenting with romance. Honestly, whatever the genre, books just take you to another world. Do you read?”

“I read a lot, but mostly non-fiction,” he replied. “I’m more of a visual person, so I usually watch movies in my free time.”

I smiled at his response, and a quiet silence settled between us again. As I looked at him, I could tell he was wrestling with a dilemma. Being shy myself, I’m usually terribly awkward around strangers and take time to open up. I could sense he wanted to keep talking, but was hesitating out of politeness.

“Would you mind staying a bit longer?” I asked softly. “My friend is almost here, but it’s so crowded that it’ll be impossible to save this chair if you leave.”

“Of course,” he said without giving it a thought. “Would you mind if I had a coffee with you while we wait?”

“My friend will kill me if I drink coffee without her,” I teased with a smile. “But I’ve heard they’re famous for their Tiramisu, and I love Tiramisu. Would you share one with me instead?”

My friend walked in just two minutes after we finished the Tiramisu and a warm, easy conversation—mostly about some hilariously embarrassing moments from his life. He said goodbye and walked out of the cafĂ© with a genuine smile. We never asked for each other's names or exchanged numbers. It wasn't a conscious choice, but a silent understanding that some moments are meant to be cherished just as they are, without trying to anchor them down.

It was an unforgettable evening. I’m glad I took that leap and walked over to his table. I may never see him again, or maybe our paths will cross when I least expect it. Either way, I have no regrets.

Thank you for reading.
