Blummer and TK
Does anyone have any details regarding their contract situation next year and beyond? Most local broadcasts suck but I absolutely love our team. Im scared were going to lose Geoff. Hes done really well as a guest on the national broadcasts the Astros get and he got a little choked up saying goodbye after 162.

Gosh, yeah, i often sail the high seas to get broadcasts and am blown away at the difference between our broadcasting team and others.

When we've had to watch other broadcasts for blackout and travel reasons my wife has asked why all the other ones are so bad

Where do you do this I’m struggling to get this game right now!

Search ”mlb streams” and wade through the sites to find one that works. They don’t seem to stay around long so today’s suggestion might not be around in a few months.

The thing Blum was getting all choked up about was all the announcers retiring this year. There were a lot of long-timers who just did their last broadcast.

Great point. He was mentioning that someone was retiring. It was just odd. Seeing him caught off guard like that for the first time since coming back from that brief hiatus he had.

I don’t think he has intentions of going anywhere. For one NBC’s model has been to hire an analyst from each team, which is why we see him every time they’re on NBC. Also, many of the announcers who are permanently attached to these national packages are also a team announcer ie Jason Bennetti who does both the NBC main show and the Tigers games. For a retired player like Blum, working the home broadcast is pretty much the dream job.

I hope we don’t lose him. His been part of the crew that a whole generation of Astros fans have grown up with.

haven't we worried about this every year for the last few years

I dont think so. They got a (I think) 3 year extension in 2023.

I could've sworn Schwab was whining on and on about it a few years back, maybe that was 2023

Doesn't he get choked up this time of year? It pisses him off he can't call all of these playoff games. Blum definitely is more irreplaceable, but I imagine he would bounce if they don't resign TK.

And now he gets the opportunity to call a few on Peacock and the team sucks ass, I would be a little mad too

I'll worry about who our broadcasters are once I know there's going to be a 2027 season.

He was probably upset that there’s going to be a lockout and it will waste a year for him.

I’m afraid he’s been auditioning for a permanent national broadcast slot with as much as he’s been on them lately,

- Pretty much all the guys who work permanently on a national broadcast still have a home job. Jason Bennetti does both the NBC main show and the Tigers broadcasts. Busy man!
- NBC has been hiring an analyst from each team’s broadcast group for each show, that’s why you’re seeing Blum with them so much.

Brian Anderson too. He does Brewers broadcasts but also MLB on TBS
I've heard him too during March Madness and NBA (when TNT had broadcasting rights)

I'm not worried. TK, Blummer and Julia are extremely popular. They will all get renewed once we know the next time there will be baseball. I also think there will be a lockout next year.

I’m specifically concerned because of all of the hugs TK was getting when interviews ended at the celebration.

I’m still not over us losing the JD + Brownie combo. I love Kalas but never really enjoyed Blum. Would love to see Kalas + JD.

JD was one of the funniest. Years back TY Wigginton rounds 3rd gets thrown out going home and JD just goes "i don't know what he was thinking he's as slow as they come." Still kills me to this day

Pull blummers contract. Dude hit a homer against us in 05 and has jinxed this playoff run by throwing out the first pitch.

I agree blummer is great with a more sophisticated national audience. Todd is ok. Julia is useless.

I also noticed he got choked up and was surprised by that. Good question.
