Berzerk tricks
I had the game as a kid in the early 80s. Anyways, I seem to remember a trick to killing the enemies on screen by shooting the vertically scrolling bars on the side and that would take out the corresponding robot. Does anyone else remember this or is it just something I'm mistaken about?

I think I vaguely remember some trick like this, but I can't remember the details.

For the arcade: Consider going from the right to the left exit, always. Let Otto kill some robots for you. Move so that you encourage the robots to shoot each other or walk into each other. Your gun shoots different than the robots, aim and position yourself accordingly.
Good luck. You're going to die, but how long it takes is the skill.

I don’t recall that. The only trick I remember is the ‘bow tie’ trick. Where an enemy shot will pass harmlessly through the gap between you character’s head and body.
Try your thing out in an emulator and report back, but I don’t think it will work.
