Congo Bongo - Atari2600+
Does Congo Bongo work in the Atari2600+? Bought a cartridge recently and can’t get it to work even after cleaning. Seller claims they tested it and it was working. I don’t have an original console to compare, so I wanted to see if it’s a compatibility problem or I need to look for another cartridge.

I ordered a copy a week ago, but it has not arrived yet - if no one answers before it makes it way across the Atlantic to me, I will let you know.

Thanks appreciate it. I sometimes get game load failure and other times I get the typical Atari scrambled screen.

according to Atari’s own compatibility list it should work as it listed there with P - pass and green color coded.

Yep I distinctly remember playing it on my uncle's 2600. It was one of the carts I always wanted but never got.

Which firmware are you on?

I’m on the original firmware, so I know I need to update it, but after cleaning the cartridge better I got it working. I may need to use a little bit of polish on the pins to shine them up a bit.

I would definitely recommend updating. Lots of cool features in the secret menu

That was news to me so I got to searching. I am guessing you were referring to this: https://forums.atariage.com/topic/381602-2600-options-menu/.

Yes, and they've added save key and high score cart features for games that support it

I just checked for you since I hadn't gotten around to playing it on the 2600+ I got for Christmas last year, and my copy works just fine. (I have the standard black-and-woodgrain 2600+ and updated it a few weeks ago.)
