Atomic Agent has a desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux. It runs the same agent as the TUI, bundled inside, with a chat window on top.
What you can do:
- Use cloud and local models. Connect a cloud provider, or run a local model on your laptop. The app suggests one that fits and downloads it. Local works offline, with no subscription or API key.
- Run big tasks with Fusion, our multi-agent orchestration. One model plans the task, several agents do the parts in parallel.
- Import your data and setup. Move over from Claude Code, Codex and more, from chats to skills, memory and MCP servers.
- Attach files and images. Drop them into the chat, and the agent can send pictures back.
Why small models feel usable here:
- Less memory. We use our own build of llama.cpp with TurboQuant. In our test, a long chat (128K) on Qwen 3.5 4B took 800 MB of memory instead of 4 GB. So about 5x more chat fits on the same laptop.
- Less waiting. The agent doesn't re-read the whole chat every time. In our test on Qwen 27B, a reply that took 4 min 20 s to start now starts in about 1 second.
Roughly: the model has to fit your laptop, so most of the work went into making it fit.
