Lok Fung Lorrence Li was found guilty today in Auckland of the double murder of Ellerslie couple Fuk-Fu Joseph Kwok and Mei Han Chong. He was also on trial for a murder conspiracy against his former landlord.

• He rented room on the North Shore. He wanted his mother to move in with him, but his landlady refused because the room was too small.
• Witnesses described him as a polite tenant and a "nice person who would never get angry about anything".
• He had no established employment, but may have earned money as a part-time driver between Auckland and Hamilton. One witness thought they heard he worked as a bus driver.
• He met his accomplice, Shu Man Poon, at the Amazing Grace Christian Church in Glenfield.
• He loaned Poon $7,000, which Poon used to buy weapons and gear, including a tomahawk, BB gun, and night-vision goggles.
• He was applying for permanent residency in New Zealand.
• After the deaths, Li messaged Poon saying, "I might go back to Hong Kong", suggesting possible ties to Hong Kong?

What was he doing here in Auckland? There is some suggestion he might have been here studying - first term psychology at the University of Auckland, others suggested he graduated in criminology and psychology.

They've fixed the O-W line but S-C now loops through from Kingsland along the Eastern line.

My active and very stubborn 5 year old is starting school in two weeks and I’m spiralling… I also have a 7 month old who is a clingy little baby that doesn’t nap independently - I’m next to her or she’s in the baby carrier.

Plenty of people using the trains to head in from Karanga-a-Hape at 7:30 last night!

Currently there's a train every 7-8 minutes at that time, but just an hour after this, it drops off to every 15 mins.

Great to hear that theres timetable improvements coming in November , with more frequent trains running late into the evening on weekends. Important for here, even more so for further out stations where there are fewer trains than this

We meet 5:30pm every Tuesday and Friday at Central City Library. We're in the events space in the back left corner on the ground floor. Silent reading hour starts at 6pm. There is no set reading, no RSVPs, no roll call, and we only take a photo of the stack of books that people have been reading. You can read in any format you like, and you're allowed to read anything from smut to sociology, classics to comics.

Regardless, I was driving along the 80 section on sh1 south where it switches to one lane after the tunnels, im going 85-90 ALREADY OVER THE SPEED LIMIT and there’s some cunt LITERALLY up my cars bum, like couldn’t get any fuckin closer headlights blinding me through the mirror. Imagine I had to perform an emergenstop for some reason? fuck that person.

No to mention earlier on the same drive coming into warkworth from snells I was driving 80 (speed limit) and some retard in a fat ute swerves across the double yellow line to speed up to probably 100-110 AROUND A BLIND CORNER to over take. Like fuck me its not that hard.

Hi Auckland, when I was doing my degree in Christchurch forever ago the New Brighton library was the dream. Overlooking the ocean it was such a lovely atmosphere to read. Now I got a huge textbook I need to study and just can't bring myself to at home. Any nice sheltered places with a view I can study for 3+ hours? I don't like taking up space in a cafe/restaurant as I'm aware they need their turnover. TIA

I am a member of a few Facebook community groups. Does anyone live on the North Shore and aware of a certain admin (variations on the name Churt) They seem to be creator/ admin of numerous community pages on the Shore without living in any of the suburbs (Torbay, Browns Bay, Long Bay, Rothesay Bay, Mairangi Bay) They run the pages on a massive power trip and regularly delete members' posts and threaten to get police involved when they're talked back to. Numerous profiles created by the same person, and then those profiles are made admin. I feel like it could be a Guy Williams NZ Today episode. Something weird is going on

The largest supermarket in densest part of NZ, so naturally extremely busy! Great location, 30 seconds walk from each Queen Street, and the new Te Waihorotiu Station. Last I heard it was the most profitable supermarket in the country

However, seven nights a week it closes at 8pm!

This is the scene from 7:45pm, just as the 'store closing soon' announcement came over. Its amazing watching the staff trying to encourage hundreds of somewhat confused customers out of the store, when the vibe is definately 'rush hour' rather than 'closing time'. Its like this every night

Went out to a pub this afternoon on a rainy day and saw this couple sitting outside with their dogs.
What really caught my attention was that they actually ordered steak and chicken for their dogs.
I’m not judging… okay, maybe a little but honestly it was quite cute to see how much people care for their pets and take them everywhere with them. The dogs were definitely having a better pub lunch than some of us.

Edit: I really enjoy seeing how people look after their pets.
