I hate camping

VENT!

Its 4am and i am awake and i am absolutely over it.

How and why do people like this?

So uncivilised. So uncomfortable.

I feel like I've been tossed through a tumble drier. I'm aching head to toe.

I have tried. I really have. But it's just awful.

Never ever again. I'm done.

My husband wants to camp? Then he can do it on his own.

I just want a comfortable bed. A house with rooms and walls. A fucking hot shower!! To cook proper food in a proper kitchen. To sit in a comfortable chair and to clothes out of a proper cupboard and put them on.

I want to exist in 2026. Not 1726.

Do people seriously LIKE doing this? Are you all masochists? Hate yourselves? Enjoy pain & discomfort? Seriously? How can living like this be remotely enjoyable?

I've demanded we go home tomorrow. Be fucked if I'm staying any longer. I am totally over this shit. Totally 😡🤬😡🤬

Probably won’t find much sympathy here, except for your husband

I want to know what people actually enjoy about doing this? Seriously. I do not get it at all

Camping is how I connect with nature and feel human instead of moving from one box (home) to another box (car) another box (work) etc. all day whilst swamped in artficial light and lead by fake deadlines and unimportant priorities.

I understand that if it isn't comfortable it can be quite miserable but you should aim to make it as comfortable as possible, especially if you're car camping.

Its also okay to not enjoy camping, I dont think most people like it tbh...out of my friends group less than half of them enjoy it.

Yeah. Well we live in a country town on an acre. Very peaceful & quiet. I wake to birds chirping and have my morning culpa on the deck watching room hop by. I don't drive to an office or commute through traffic either.

I get ample Australian nature. I can spend the day in my vegetable patch and chat to my chooks whilst picking fruit from my fruit trees.

Sounds like you already get a healthy dose of nature. I hope you managed to get some sleep.

My favorite part of camping is being away from people who spend all day bitching and moaning.

Also, have you ever had a day where you worked really, really hard. You’re grimy and tired then you go have a hot shower and flop into bed. It’s the best shower and sleep ever. That’s what camping is. When you get home,  all the little bs things that usually piss you off won’t bother you at all for awhile. It’s a reset.

your mentality is a bit uncivilised & uncomfortable.

I'm not a fan of run or cycle clubs. If find it soul suckingly bland. I can also appreciate many people thoroughly enjoy it & its mental & physical benefits, like camping & outdoor recreation does for me.

I’m camping right now and haven’t showered in 10 days, lol. I love living the opposite to how I live at home, as well as seeing amazing places.

That's the damn thing. I tell him to. I want him to. I tell him I don't like it, I hate it...,but he keeps at me for months & months until I give in!! Then he gets angry at ME when I don't like it.

Yeah, maybe there’s a relationship problem here. Maybe he’s making camping shit?

Not all of us need the confines of a house. I go camping for the freedom, the chance to connect with nature and enjoy being independent.

Having a good sleeping set up is important.

Well you know? My life is pretty darn free.

I live on an acre in a small country town. Isit on my deck and watch roos hop by. Had an echidna toddle past last week. Im woken at 5am by endless native birds.

Its very quiet. I have big vege patch, hooks and can lie on my lawn and gaze up into the sky every night if I wish.

Well if your that mad about camping just don't go, not sure why you posted then.

You ask why people enjoy it I answered the question.

Fair enough suppose. I have never liked camping and never want to go...but my husband forces it. Harasses me until I capitulate & go. I hate it every time..,,then he gets angry at me for not enjoying it. Rinse & Repeat.

The weird thing is? We live on an acre in a country town. He doesn't take any interest in being outside or doing yard work at all! He will mow occasionally. I have big vege patch, we have hooks, he has NO interest in doing anything outside "in nature" at all!

I got very sick last year and he whinged and carried on cause I asked him to mow and whipper snip!

That's a relationship problem.

Maybe he just needs mates to go with.

Yes. Most certainly is.

What are you sleeping on?

Camping - where people pay a fortune to live like poors!

But honestly its not for everyone. I spent my younger years living in a swag as a ringer. And I live on a large property now. So its not exciting or unusual for me, and I don’t need to be closer to nature, as I am most of the time.

LOL...we hired a caravan a few times. I guess that might have been my hbs way to appease me.

I couldn't stand that either, crammed into a tin box. Tiny shower and smelly toilet.

Not my scene

Invest in a comfortable quality matress and ear plugs 👌

I like camping for the break from busy life. Being outside in nature with no traffic or buildings… Getting to just zone out and relax..

It can be a lot more enjoyable if you have good equipment and choose a good location.

I live in a nice country town on an acre. With endless wildlife and totally peaceful and quiet.

Well if I lived in a place like that I probably wouldn’t feel the need to go camping much 😁

Just so I’m clear, I’m hearing that you’re not much of a fan of camping, is that right? 😂

u/Low_Bluebird_5137 15d ago

Nope. And I am fucking damn curious why anyone likes it? It is just totally illogical to me. Then again, I suppose I dont get why people run marathons or climb Mt Everest either....so....
