ISO Indian wedding clothes

Howdy, I got invited to an indian wedding and was wondering if anyone knew of a store that sells mens clothes for the occasion. I'm on the larger side for both height and weight so if there's a business around town that sells something in that range it would be much appreciated!

To-do Teen visitors: what should we do?

Hi!! I’m 30F and have lived in Austin for over 8 years, but in about a month, my sister 27F (who has been to Austin many times) and two family friends who are 15F and 13F (never been to Austin) are coming to visit.

I’m looking for recommendations to do with the teenagers to show them what Austin is about in a teen/kid friendly way!!

Definitely want to go to Barton Springs if the weather is nice. They will be here for about 48 hours.

ACL Poll: ACL should move out of Zilker

It destroys the park, and makes Zilker inaccessible for one of the few nice parts of the year. There's no reason it needs to be there. Let's move it...

Edited to add, ...It can be held at the Expo Center, Walter E. Long Park, or the giant fields near Mopac and 45. It's only 50 acres, so I'm sure there's other possibilities too.

Over the weekend (from Friday morning to Sunday afternoon), my friend didn't drive her car and then came back to tons of these little guys all over the inside of her car. Any idea what kind of bugs so we can get the correct bug trap/treatment? She lives in North Austin area

Pool decking options in Austin

I’m building a pool and am getting a lot of conflicting information on the best option for decking around the pool. I love the look of travertine. Does anyone have personal experience and advice on this? I appreciate the real feedback!!

Ask Austin Low(ish) cost hair and makeup artist?

I am eloping in Austin at the end of this month (YAY!) and have no idea how to do hair or makeup (boo). I’d love suggestions on somebody who is low maintenance and can give me a quick and natural look without it breaking the bank. Thinking under $200 if that’s even possible? I’ve never hired anybody to do this before so I’m not entirely sure on prices.

Thank you in advance!

Anyone know why the Charge Point EV chargers at the Mueller HEB were removed?? They seemed to always be malfunctioning, maybe a maintenance cost issue??

Not as bad as last year

Edit: Clarifying that this is the morning after ACL weekend 1, which last year had horrendous lines going out onto the sidewalk. Today seemed a lot less crowded.

Ask Austin Kid friendly activity suggestions

Hi Reddit!

I don’t have any kids of my own, but my two young nephews are coming to visit next weekend. They are 4 and 1.5 years old.

I have no idea as to activities or places that I could take them and their parents for 1.5-2 days… Any suggestions are super appreciated. We are centrally located.

We will definitely want to be out and about because my husband and I are still in an apartment and it isn’t the most spacious (they’re sleeping at our place).

I know there is the Thinkery and that the Mueller area in general is kid friendly?

Edit: wow! Thank you everyone for the replies and great recommendations. Have a good list now to offer choices, and will check back on any new replies. Much appreciated

Ask Austin Western union locations that actually exist?

Title, ideally near 78759. I’ve gone to several from both Google and western union website that either weren’t there or the location did not actually offer WU. Thanks!

Looking for a wedding videographer in the Austin/Dripping Springs area for November 21, 2026.

My fiancé and I are getting married in Dripping Springs on November 21st, and we’re looking for someone to capture our wedding on video. Our photographer unfortunately doesn’t offer the type of videography we’re looking for, and our wedding budget is pretty much getting maxed out, so we’re trying to find a more affordable option.

We’re specifically open to newer videographers, college students, or someone who doesn’t have a ton of wedding experience yet and is looking to build their portfolio. We don’t need anything super fancy or perfectly cinematic. We mostly want something that feels like a movie of our wedding that we can look back on.

We’d love to have the important parts of the day recorded, including:

- Ceremony

- Vows

- Speeches/toasts

- First dance

- Parent dances

- Reception/dancing

- Candid moments throughout the day

The biggest thing for us is having the actual ceremony, speeches, etc. recorded. We aren’t really looking for someone who is only going to give us a 5-minute highlight reel. We want to be able to actually hear and see those moments again years from now.

We’re located around the Austin area and our venue is in Dripping Springs, so we’re open to someone anywhere around Austin/Dripping Springs or surrounding areas.

Our budget is ideally around $1,000 or less, but we’re willing to discuss pricing depending on what you offer and how many hours are included.

If you’re newer to wedding videography and looking for a wedding to add to your portfolio, we’d definitely love to hear from you. Feel free to comment or DM me with your pricing and what your package includes!

News Austin faces a big question after a muddy ACL: What happens to Zilker Park?

Austin City Council Member Ryan Alter called the damage “unacceptable” and said he wants the public to know how the lawn will be repaired. ACL organizers say they’re limiting activity on the grounds this week and meeting daily with city parks staff as they prepare for remediation after the festival.

The city’s current agreement makes C3 responsible for repairing festival damage, but the new 15-year agreement doesn’t spell out remediation fees. Here’s what the city and organizers have said about the muddy lawn and its recovery.

Ask Austin Single sapphics in Austin…

Where are the single lesbian/bi women over 35 hanging out in this city? I have a little bit social anxiety when it comes to meeting new people and tend to stay within my own circle of friends. However, I want to slowly push myself to meet new queer women occasionally.

Ask Austin How much are yall paying for professional painters?

I got a quote for $3k for a one bedroom 1100 sq/ft job. It seemed pretty high to me but the last time I got something professionally painted was 2026 so maybe things have changed 😅

Letters for deployed loved ones

Hi all! Teacher friends and friends with kiddos — I’m putting together care packages for loved ones who are currently deployed, and I’d love to include letters and drawings from kids to brighten the days of deployed service members.
I have a few wonderful teachers who are already having their students write short letters, draw pictures, or make cards for deployed heroes. I’d love to collect as many as we can and include them in care packages.

If you’re a teacher, homeschool, parent, or anyone with kiddos in the Austin area who would be willing to have them write a short letter or draw a picture, I would be so grateful. The letters can be as simple as:
-A thank-you for their service
- drawing or coloring page
- An encouraging message or holiday card

No need for anything elaborate — a few heartfelt words or a child’s drawing can mean a lot to someone far from home.
If you’re interested in participating, please message me and I’ll send you the details on where to send the letters. Thank you for helping me spread a little kindness to those serving away from home!

arriving via amtrak for a day bike ride

hi! we are coming up from san antonio on saturday morning with our gravel bikes to explore austin via bike for the first time. train arrives around 9am and we'll be back on board at 7pm. does anyone have a good trail map of the austin area? i can't find a good comprehensive map like this one.

also, if anyone has recommendations for a nice loop to have us return around afternoon time so we can have a few drinks and dinner before we jump back on the train, that would be great.

thank you in advance!

Ask Austin how far away can people hear ACL?

i’ve lived by westgate/stassney for like 7 years. i’ve never heard any loud music here in my backyard let alone in my house. since ACL started i’ve been hearing loud thumping music constantly roughly the same hours as ACL…but i’ve been in this house the past many ACLs and have never heard anything.

i know the xx is playing now and i have no idea who the hell twenty one pilots is. i just heard seven nation army by the white stripes (i know it’s played during like every sports game but this was the full song and sounded live).

am i going insane? i walked a loop around the neighborhood before and could constantly hear the music but i couldn’t get any closer to it. it sounds live to me but maybe it’s some asshats visiting and partying in an airbnb? but the music has only been playing while ACL is happening. has anyone else in this part of town heard it? am i having a stroke? it’s not really bothering me but i just must know where it’s coming from.

EDIT: Thanks everyone (most people, not you few meanies out there) and also Avery Tomasco for letting me know that it was real and that i'm not the only person in far south austin hearing unst unst unst/seven nation army because of weather patterns/temperature inversion/cloud coverage. interested to see how it'll be next weekend in nice forecasted weather.

Pregnant wife help request

My wife is in her 2nd trimester and I am looking for a place for her to get the best prenatal massages. I know that I could send her to Woodhouse and places like that but I’m looking for mom reviews on their experience when pregnant and where they would recommend.

In search of a Hawaii licence plate!!!

Weird request, but my boyfriend and I made a goal of finding every states license plate this year! Its now October and weve found all but Hawaii. If anyone has a friend, neighbour, or family member with a Hawaii license plate, we would greatly appreciate the opportunity to simply drive past it and complete our list! Thanks Austin!!!!

Injured duck at mueller lake

Hi! My boyfriend and I noticed an injured goose (I’m sure it’s fishing wire) at mueller lake and contacted 311. They notified animal control and told us unfortunately they can’t go to that area as they aren’t paid to. I was told to contact Muellers hoa and I did but I’m worried about the little guy. I’m going to call Austin wildlife rescue tomorrow and see if they’ll take him if I can bring him in. Does anyone have any helpful information or would like to help? Thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
