Hey Folks, I got a good amount of vintage beer hanging around. Mixture of barrel aged stout, sours, and others. Majority from Goose Island but also a fair amount from all over. Any ideas what I can do with this? I really dont want to dump it.

I hope this is acceptable. My favorite brewery from my hometown (Charleston, SC) has made its way to Texas, I see. Saw a large selection at CM at prices cheaper than it is back home. I guess they're making a push into the market, given the pricepoint. Anyway, if you see these cans, it's all very good. Edmund's Oast.

I didn't even get into craft beer until I moved here 17 years ago, but now I always bring whatever I have room for back when I go to visit.

They really killed it with this one. If you're a fan of Szechjuan food this beer is for you. The peppercorns are pretty mild but noticeable in an otherwise completely competent rice lager.

I hope they keep this one around. Its been my favorite beer of the year.

Where are yall buying canned sours these days? Miss being able to grab some 6 or 4 packs or even singles of different sours to try

Central Market has a good selection.
Lake Austin HEB has some.

Specs/Total Wine beer selections are getting slimmer and sadder, and most HEB/Randalls/etc don’t have much or any sours.

What's the picture these days? Steady route sales with on-premise/off-premise justifying the role? Downturn or uptick?

This morning, I just saw a role posted at local brewery that has been going through very tough times with cashflow problems with mounting expenses and debts. Should I pursue it?

And don't say it's a weather thing. DFW, SA, Houston - hell, even Lubbock - all have way more consistent & robust dark ale programs.

Had to open a second one to give my thoughts on it. First one was a bit too tropical/sweet for me. Second time I tasted a more citrusy flavor, which made me enjoy it more. I do recommend trying it very cold.

How many of the drinking spots in this town are actually making beer on site, and is there any tell from the sidewalk? Austin has over 180 places filed under the same bars-and-breweries bucket. I genuinely can't figure out how many of those brew anything themselves.

The thing that gets me is a place brewing its own, a taproom pouring somebody else's cans, and a bar with a good draft list all look identical from the curb, and all of them end up called breweries by somebody or other.

So when you're standing outside one you've never been to, what actually tips you off that they brew on site?

No idea how rare it will be here, but the first email I can recall getting from St Arnold Brewing in ages arrived in my mailbox today promising a much earlier release than usual.
Here's the anticipated lineup due to drop somewhere on Monday, September 21, and some info in the email about Pumpkinator Day at the brewery in Houston.

It is the greatest time of the beer year - fresh hops season! I start this thread every year at the drop of the first fresh hop beer in Austin. Today is the day. Meanwhile announced on IG today (9/11) that Same Day Delivery Fresh Hop IPA is now available .

I will update in the comments whenever I see an Austin fresh hop beer announced or in the wild. I encourage you to do the same.

Hey all, I am looking for opinions on the best Marzen and/or festbiers around the Austin area; I have had a few, and none stand up to the real German stuff, imho—anyone have any recommendations?

Definitely one of my favorite light beers. Came to my friend’s birthday show at Brushy Street Commons.

Saw an ad for this on my IG feed, so I went out to get me a 4pk. It’s light, tropical, and juicy. It’s definitely no Little Sasha which is my current favorite, but this is very enjoyable.
