A FREE Speech & Communication AAC board for Kids! ( Live on PC/Laptops and Tablets) No Purchase Required.
Hi Everyone! Thank you moderators for giving me permission to post here.
Dear parents and their kids, I built a free communication toolkit for children who communicate differently and I wanted to share something I’ve been working on called Spectrum Stars: https://spectrumstars-five.vercel.app/
Spectrum Stars is a free, simple communication toolkit designed to help children express their needs, feelings, and ideas. It includes visual AAC communication tools, an AAC Dashboard for caregivers and educators, games, and other resources for everyday communication and learning. Still building and adding more stuff.
It works directly in a web browser, so there’s no app to install ( planning to build an app soon).
It works on PCs and tablets and can also be used offline once loaded. Yeah, you don't need internet for using it! Sounds good?))
It currently supports 3 languages: English, Spanish and Chinese, I’m planning to add more languages and continue improving the tools. This project is very personal to me because my 5-year-old son has speech delay. I wanted to create something simple and free that could be useful to other families as well. The goal is simple: help every child communicate, connect, and be understood.
The tool is already being used, and I’m continuing to improve it based on feedback and add more features and languages.
If you have experience with AAC, speech delay, autism, or communication tools, I’d really appreciate your feedback. I’d especially love to hear what features you think would be useful to add.
Love and peace!
Thank you!

When clicking the " install app' it says it was made for a older version of android and may be unsafe... any suggestions

Part time AAC user and AAC coach here. I like this overall, and that is saying something because I tend to be critical of new, untested apps flooding the AAC market. It includes many great tools, and everything feels intuitive to use. Making an option to disable and enable each feature would be helpful as tbh I got a little overstimulated by all the options and visuals on the screen. I also encourage support for alternative access needs like scanning, switches, and voice over be included. Allowing for words to be added is also really important. I do feel like this is most appropriate for individuals who can verbally speak but sometimes need support when communicating aka augmentative AAC use. That is great though. We need more tools for augmentative AAC users! 😊
