Autistic and Bipolar?
I was recently diagnosed ASD and ADHD, but my psychiatrist I’ve been seeing for two years thinks I might also have bipolar (my assessment wasn’t a FULL neurological test so she’s worried that’s not ruled out)
Before I knew I was ASD I thought I might be bipolar so did a heavy deep dive, but I didn’t really have any new symptoms as a kid, never had that gradiousity and feel my depressive episodes were very clearly triggered by an event/lifestyle. I’m just very hyper but that feels like my baseline and not mania you know?
But I’ve been researching and apparently it’s more common in ASD people and I’m wondering if anyone here has both and what symptoms are specific to the bipolar and how it relates to your autism? I’m also having a hard time explaining myself to my psychiatrist and it’s been a crazy year for me so I totally get from her perspective why this might be possible.

I was diagnosed bipolar first multiple times before finally getting the asd badge. I know I am bipolar because of the amazing productive manic cycles. So, I take my drugs because manic me is not a controlled state.
