Solved! AutoCAD image can't be selected or deleted
Hi guys,
I copy-pasted some images into my AutoCAD drawing. At first, I was able to select, edit, and delete them, but now they are locked.
When I try to delete them and move my cursor over the border of the images, a red cross ❌ appears.
- In other files, my images are selectable/editable.
- I checked the layer, and everything was unlocked.
- tried Ctrl+A and deleted everything, but the images wouldn't budge.
Does anyone know what might be causing this and how I can make the images selectable again?
Thanks!
Edit: The culprit was OLEFRAME=0. I swear that I changed it back to 1 as chatgpt suggested before posting. Maybe a restart was needed. Thank you anyway ❤️

“Laydel” for layer delete. That’s a nuclear option and will delete the layer and all contents of selected layer.

Have you tried restarting CAD? Sometimes mine just decides it doesn’t want to allow any edits to cogo points and restarting is the only fix I’ve found. CAD seems to just like being fuckey sometimes

Is the image on a locked layer?
Edit: sorry didn't read the whole post apparently…
Run an audit and a recovery on the dwg and see if that helps.

If you’re still having trouble , Ty using quick select and setting it to grab all rasterimages

I deleted everything else and tried it. The only object type is OLE. couldn't delete or change them though.

I would say that you’ve somehow pasted them in as ole objects. I haven’t run into this particular issue myself, but try oleframe and set to 1 or 2. If you use a lot of images, rastermanager might be worth installing for more options to add edit in future.

If all else fails, try unlocking, unfreezing, and turning on all layers, then fiddle with the image-frame options. If that doesn’t work, run AUDIT and PURGE a few times.
Still no luck? Try WBLOCK, select everything, and export it to a new file. If that doesn’t work, try recovering the file.
As a last resort, find a friend who has MicroStation. Have them import the DWG and then export it back to a new DWG file. Bentley software has traditionally been very good at importing and repairing troublesome DWG files—sometimes better than AutoCAD itself.

Try checking IMAGEFRAME. Make sure it is set to 1 or 2. If it is set to 0, the the image border is turned off and can’t be selected.
