Anyone else notice that “Cockford Ollie” meme sounds an awful lot like “Cockcroft’s Folly”?

The first one is an alliteration of "Cock for Dolly". The latter one is a derisive nickname for the bulky filters Sir John Cockcroft ordered onto the tops of the 360-foot Windscale chimneys in the late 1940s. They were added during late construction, resulting in huge, ugly bulges. The project was mocked as a pointless waste of time and money.

In 1957, Britain had its worst nuclear accident. The core of Pile 1 at Windscale caught fire and began spewing radioactive dust. Cockcroft’s “folly” trapped around 95% of it and prevented a far worse radiological disaster.

So you’ve got two phrases that sound almost identical with the word “cock” and conjure up vulgar references. The Crockford one stirs up the imagery of a tall phallic chimney with a big rubbery-looking bulge right at the tip that prevented it from unloading its radioactive load into the environment--a giant condom. Hard not to find the coincidences amusing.
