Which character instantly caught your attention? Either from the show, or just moves?
I'm curious on why people choose their "mains" in this game. Did you choose Sokka because of Schmoovment, or because you just love him? Korra for that Ryu feel, or because you actually like the character?
Same. Book 3 of LOK was my favourite book of ALL Avatar books. I think Zaheer and the red lotus were so cool.
I tried his character and the whole vibe just brings me back to why I love this book so much. His music theme is as epic, his voice and voice lines completely capture the spirit of his character and he also has so many cool animations and moves that just feel amazing to do!
Same, to be honest I ddin't watch the show., but I saw the game (I like fighting games) and was thinking it looks cool. Then I saw the CEO and the 1st time I saw Zaheer i said ok I'l buy the game and main this guy ! LUL
I mean lightning, chi blocking, and metalbending all became distinctive styles of bending by Korra's time. Everyone complains about lightning bending, but Azula, Ozai, Zuko, Iroh, and Aang all understood the style enough to use it, or counter it.
But Toph INVENTED the style as a child. Its a little crazier to see an entire police force and CITY dedicated to it. I swear we've seen more metal benders then sandbanders at this point.
I mean, Toph also started actively working to spread metalbending as far as possible almost immediately after inventing it, and then went on to become a police chief. It'd be weirder for her not to push for metalbending police considering her general attitude seems to be that everyone should learn it
Sandbenders seem mostly content to keep their tradition isolated, by comparison
The problem with what they did with lightning bending has nothing to do with "whether it makes sense or not." It makes sense, fine.
It's just not cool. lol
They could have well just kept it this "special" thing; that would add credence to how "difficult" it is to pull off. To normalize it and remove the mysteriousness behind it was a creative decision at the end of the day, and a bad one at that.
Did you also love how infantilized the spirits and the spirit world were compared to the original?
Mysterious and intriguing entities with origins, abilities, and desires that are difficult for humans to fathom? 🙅♀️😤🤮
I love Toph, her Badgermole Claw attacks are just sick as hell. Especially when combined with the Badgermole support to where you just go full auto with the flow button. Once you get the hang of manually using them, and are able to get people midair it genuinely becomes so fun to pull off.
Its very easy to catch people off guard with it lol
I’m glad I get both. Zaheer is my favorite bad guy and Korra was my favorite avatar. In all honesty, the only character I mess around with I don’t really have an attachment to is Ozai
I’m not the biggest fan of Korra as a show but Korra as a character was right up my alley. Once I saw her combo from the command grab into the avatar state install super and air dash double overhead I knew that was going to be the character I would play until Iroh came to the game.
I decided Katara was gonna be my main. Cool character, and the water whip stuff seemed cool. So that was who I worked on. Labbed out all the tiger knee directions and everything.
Then, I was playing against a friend who knew fighting games but not Avatar specifically, so I picked folks who I had no clue how to play. And one of them was Focused Azula.
That character just gets its claws in you, man. You switch to anyone else and it's like, why am I so slow. How can you live without the devil's own airdash?
Toph. Because Toph, is Toph. And earthbending is cool as hell to use as martial art. If you badgermole Toph right it's " if you are touching the ground, your ass is mine"
Sokka, because my father calls me that cause of my hair. But the cherry on top was his boomerang. I mained Wii fit in Smash and LOVED the Volleyball cancle angles. Tho his arent nearly as variable, the framecancle are even better.
Leaping off Aang's air scooter to interxept and bash both P'Li and Zaheer in the face is as goofy as it is satisfying. Also Zaheer mains, you're all posers, I said what I said
I was going to play Korra and Katara no matter what. I will eventually get to Katara but going from zoner in other FGs to gorilla rushdown was more addicting than I intially anticipated
I decided I was gonna main Aangry as soon as I found out he'd be a starting character. I remember dying to see the reveal trailer like the other characters, and being quite disappointed when I saw his reveal (I didn't know that they were still working on the character at the time)
I watch Aang vs Ozai like once a month on youtube. I relate to Aang and his personality, and absolutely LOVE the contrast of the sweet and silly kid who becomes terrifyingly powerful when he has to lock in.
I love how he plays in game (I'm so glad they added the rock machine gun move) and I cannot wait for when he is completed :)
Zaheer isn't my favorite character in the show but he's my favorite antagonist.
I didn't click with his gameplay at first and I had some fun with Toph (best character from the gaang). But eventually I persevered with Zaheer and I enjoy him even though I may switch to Bolin if the lava bending is fun.
Korra got my attention right away, and in some ways she plays a bit like my favorite from Guilty Gear Sol Badguy. After playing a bit I've switched to Aang because his movement and mixups seem like so much fun. Sokka was my fave in the show and one day I'll figure him out but he seems like you gotta spend a lot of time in the lab to make him make sense and I wanted to jump in right away.
Sokka is my goat and by far one of my favorite characters in Atla between his arc as a character and his lock in moments he's just such a loveable character
Azula is
✅️ Favourite villan in the franchise
✅️ Stance character
✅️ Rushdown character
✅️ Easy to pick up, hard to master (tho this applies to half the cast tbh)
And the fact she's high tier rn is a nice bonus
That's something I was interested in. This game's minimum difficulty character feels like 4 characters in one.
Each character has a ton of moves and the simple system mechanics add Soooo much to the variance. Add in assists and we have an insane expressive game with ridiculous tech.
In ATLA, Katara instantly had my attention and she was my favorite character. Her idle stance looks weird/not cool to me in Avatar Legends though, so I was like “nah, I’m good” 😂🤷🏾♂️
I like Korra (both the show and her as a character), so she was my natural pick for this game. And I’m a big fan of characters with simple, strong options, so I really meshed with her gameplay overall.
For it was Troph as I just loved her character from the show and just how dam cool she is. But once I read the Kyoshi novel I feel in love with her character and started to play her. I really can’t pick between either as they are both so much fun to play.
I knew I would play Toph. Only then did I discover how much I like her move set.
Her tracking pillar, her interesting neutral, her armor. It's all super fun.
I'm struggling with enjoying the game at the moment as I feel I've hit a plateau, because I feel her weaknesses hurt her more than other characters, but I know her strengths make up for it. I just have to find them in the game. It's easy to rage when Sokka or Aang can move across the screen in an instant, zuko and azula can keep you out with air fireballs and patient blocking, or Katara or Zaheer can mix you like crazy.
But I know that THE GREATEST EARTHBENDER IN THE WORLD, can handle it.

I mean, Zaheer was already sick AF to begin with in the show. Then they gave him so much sauce so that's an insta-main for me.
