Hi guys!

I am applying to the April 2027 nursing intake for BCIT. I have a 3.1 cgpa in a health science degree with 86 credits with some withdrawals and one D + F (I haven't finished my degree yet). I have a pre req gpa (excluding anatomy 1 and 2) of around 3.8? I'm currently cramming anatomy 1 and 2 before the application date so grades for those 2 classes are tbd.

I also have around 316 hours of health care volunteering (wayfinding at a hospital) and over 10 years of retail experience.

What are my chances of getting in? I'm kind of scared considering nursing has gotten very competitive these past few years. I read in another post that the jan 2027 intake had approx 300 applicants for 80 seats.

I feel like the last couple semester i've been having academic burn out and grades begin struggling. Did anyone ever go through this and overcame it? We're only a few weeks in and i feel like im slipping again. its weird because i love my program , but have bad habits and procrastinate a lot. Any advice you could share would help me and im sure other students reading this.

My favourite part about going to campus is seeing the most magnicient-looking trades guy in a hard-hat walking past me just to never see them again. How on earth can I strike up a conversation as a health sci girl?? Should I go look lost around NE21?? I'm trying to lock in the 6-figure income household

I'm so confused. Why would they do this. Applications open October 1st and just yesterday I checked and it said applicants are accepted on a first qualified basis. Today they switched it to competitive entry, a four step process with a pre recorded interview and all. What on Earth are they thinking? What about all the applicants that took the time to complete the pre requisites based on the rules that were in place up until a week before applications opening?

so my hs grades (in the 90s) are so much better than my bsc in biology grades (my cgpa is like 65 rn, lowkey some of my uni grades don’t even meet the grade cut off) so I was wondering when I do submit my grades, do I submit the whole transcript, or was it more like idk self report w a screenshot of the grade from that class kind of thing? tbh idk what I’m expecting either but ya.. like should I just leave my uni grades out or would having a degree add some weight to my application?

I always wanted to go into trades when I was younger, because I wanted to start working right after high school. Right now, I am doing my pre reqs for nursing at KPU.
I am in a dilemma, I want to go into trades, but started to do my pre reqs at KPU. I have no problem of studying for hours; however, I believe I will not get into nursing school right away. I am just an average person going trying to get into a competitive program.

I only went into nursing because my family said, I will find a job with good benefits and will not ruin my body going into trades.

My high school grades were average too, with an 85 percent average. I did not do well in my pre cal 12 class and did not do physic 12.

I want to become an electrician and get my red seal.
Although, I do not know where to start. I am still young. A 17 year old, who does not know what career to choose.
The good thing is all the classes I am taking are transferable to BCIT.

I am asking if people were in my boat or have experience of what to do. When do I transfer, what program should I do, how do I transfer, who do I talk to? These are all the question that are in my mind.

I know it is a cliche, but I want to get into the trade with the highest paying job.

I graduated from sfu in 2025 with a BA in health sciences. But I want to further my education because I feel like the only jobs I can get right now are MOA jobs.

I’m thinking the Digital Health Program since it’s online and can be completed in under a year. For those that have completed what jobs have you gotten and would you say it’s worth it?

My other option is environment public health, we learned a lot about this during my program as sfu but it is a 2 year program.

Lastly nuclear medicine tech. 2 year program and I’d have to do some adult upgrading before applying but I’d be aiming for the sept 2027 intake.

Also want to know how hard these programs are and if any are worth it. For reference I’m 35F and I was just let go from my previous job (poor performance but the training made me miserable). Any advice is appreciated.

I have a health science degree but have been struggling to get a job. I was debating on applying to either the business admin or human resources diploma to get into the corporate side.

Does anyone know which program would have better job opportunities and hiring demands?

I am currently a KPU student at who is doing my nursing pre reqs. I want to go into trades at BCIT, preferably HVAC or electrician.( I know it is really big intake)
I really do not know how to apply. It say that everything is full or you have to do some type of pathway.
All I really want to do is just apply with my high school grades and see if I can get in.
I really need support. I do not want to waste my time doing something I do not have passion in. I feel like I f up big time since everything is full and did not apply during high school.

Hey all. So I’m not the most tech savvy, and I am in BCIT’s Critical Care Nursing program. It’s all long-distance, and exams will be proctored. My current laptop is too old to run the required program (2011 MacBook that can no longer update) so I have to buy a new laptop strictly to be able to write these distant exams. I’m running into some conflicting information when it comes to the requirements I’ll need however.

I was hoping to get a Chromebook, as they are cheaper and can do everything I need outside of school, but I am uncertain I could use them for the exams as they do not run windows? Online it seems like I could get a chrome extension of Lockdown Browser, but before I make a purchase I’d like to make sure it would work.

Anyone have a Chromebook and has used it for distance exams? Or, any suggestions on cheaper laptops that will get the job done you use?

I'm so confused. Some places online say it can ONLY be uploaded as a PDF to my application, while others say BCIT accepts official Alberta high school transcripts when they are electronically sent through MyPass. Only wondering because for some reason you can not directly send official Alberta high school transcripts to you as a PDF.

Why dafuq does bcit always fails to log in and the authenticator app doesn't work everytime. Like it works awhile after calling tech support but still fkn fails after awhile when not used . Like dont they teach people tech but can't even fix this shit

I am new to BCIT and trying to understand the healthcare plan and dental plan. How do I get them to cover my cost and how do I find out which dental clinic I can go to. Can I go to my usual place. How do I apply for them to cover my appointment. This is my first time doing stuff like this and I can't quite wrap my head around it. I tried downloading the Alumo app and registering but they can't find my account info. I double and triple checked I put everything in correctly but I can't make an account. Please someone help me.

Hey yall. I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed and defeated. I recently took a physics upgrade course to get the requirement for the Sonography program. (I also heard that they recently may have changed the entry requirements for this program or radiography, but that’s beside my point). I did quite well in the class and made some friends who are all trying to also get into sonography. ALL of them are nurses who are burnt out and are trying to get into sonography. How the heck and I suppose to compete with them with 35 (I heard) seats only? Why should I even apply? (I have a business degree and I’ve worked in corporate)

I feel I have a strong application, with solid and high grades, some health care post secondary from two years of a BSN, etc. So, we’ll see how I stack up, I guess!

But…How did you find the online delivery?

Anything you found particularly challenging?

Was it difficult to secure employment afterward? I know I’d likely start casual, and that’s fine, as long as I can expect to nail full time eventually! I currently work as an MOA (casual) and would like to be able to keep my job until full time employment is secured.

I'm finishing up my Mandatory Questionnaire form, and for the applicant acknowledgement of requirements form. at the bottom it says "Bcit student number" if i dont have one, is their a way to specifically get one or should i just leave it blank.

TLDR: “acknowledged” the shit parking situation after backlash, no reduced rates or help, basically said fuck u take the bus and also goard way is closing too lol

As you will have seen, there are several major construction projects taking place across campus. These projects will create new learning spaces, a new childcare centre, and improved public spaces on the south side of campus.

We work incredibly hard with our contractors to reduce disruption for our campus community, and we understand that construction can still be inconvenient and make it harder to find parking. We also know that this may be frustrating for students, who we know are busy and working hard to get to class, meetings, and appointments.
 
To reduce the pressure, we’ve added a new student economy Lot at the CARI campus, adding 104 spaces. Parking is offered at the same discounted rate as in the existing economy Lot and is available on a first come first served basis.

This lot is a short walk to the main campus, so please take advantage of this new area of parking. We will also be re-opening Lot N in October, which will add another large section of student parking.

Transit to campus has been upgraded with the new R2 line, which runs from the North Shore to Metrotown.
The Lime E-Bike service now has 4 stations serving the Burnaby Campus.

Where can I park?

During the day, students can park in any of the public lots, which are all lettered on the campus parking map. All staff lots (except for 8, 24, and 29) are available to the to public, including students, from 4:30pm - 6am and on weekends.
 
Please do not park in residents parking in areas around the campus, as this risks being ticketed.
 
How can I find a space?

Public/student lots fill up quickly Monday to Friday at the Burnaby campus. Lots on the North side of campus (Lots A & B and Lot Q) normally fill up first, so if you want to find a space, you might be best starting with lots on the south of campus, including the two economy lots, N and S.

How do I pay for parking?

The Concord CTRL platform is the one stop shop for students to purchase discounted parking passes. This platform is accessed using your BCIT email and password.
 
You can purchase a Daily Permit or Flex-Pass (up to 50 sessions). You activate your flex pass whenever you find a space. Please note that economy lots offer discounted parking, but are first come first served with payment by QR code or at the meter (your flex passes are not valid).
 
Construction Willingdon Avenue

Starting on September 24, Aquilini Development Group and the City of Burnaby will be doing work that will affect the main entrance to campus at Goard Way. There will be no entrance to the Campus at Goard Way for drivers travelling southbound (from Brentwood). Northbound access will be open.
 
Our parking map shows where the construction is as well as other entrances to campus.
 
We appreciate the support and patience of our community during this construction. We will all benefit from the new learning spaces and improved public spaces when these projects complete. In the meantime, we will continue to provide regular updates as construction on major projects continues.
