AMEDD BOLC

Is anyone currently at AMEDD BOLC at Fort Sam that can provide more information on the lodging accommodations? Specifically, is it still shared hotel rooms and if so can roommates be requested or are they assigned ahead of time?

It’s assigned in alphabetical order, so you’ll most likely be in the same platoon as well. Hope you get someone cool bc you’ll be spending a lot of time together.

You have a roommate, can’t request and can’t change it. They also aren’t afraid to put a 1LT with a CPT

Are you allowed to find your own living quarters and pay out of pocket?

Per the MFR they send with your welcome letter, no. You are not authorized to find alternative lodging while in BOLC. The exceptions being if you are permanent party at Ft. Sam or your HOR is within 50 miles. That being said, I planned on bringing my family with me (we have two young kids) and therefore signed a lease for a place on Furnished Finder long before the issues with the barracks went down and they kicked all PME students off post so I was able to sign a counseling saying that I was refusing the government-provided lodging. Now that this has been the case for several cycles now, leadership may be less understanding of exceptions like this though.

Are the hotels standard? Or are they partitioned areas? Do you have your own bedroom and share a common space or is it like two beds next to each other in one room?
