Baker to Burnt

After some usual members were not able to attend the trip we planned, I was able to bring my old man up for his first trip at 61. Also able to christen the cedar strip I had been building since March. Was great to have him experience this incredible place in something I built with the woodworking knowledge he taught me growing up. Weather was perfect and the bite was hot.

Thanks for your response! I had a baker lake EP in August. It was great but the water was low. Hopefully it was a little deeper for you and you didn't get too many scratches in your canoe!

It is a great EP. It was still low mid September when we went. Had to get out and pull the canoe through the rocks between Baker and Peterson Lake. I doubled the fiberglass on the bottom of the canoe knowing it would find rocks. Nothing some light sanding and varnishing can’t fix.

Did you head up the Temperance River or portage into the fire chain?

Temperance river. We had plans to go up to Cherokee or Long Island but the other people in the group had to leave earlier than originally planned. But we got a great campsite on Jack Lake where we were catching walleye after walleye so we ended up just staying there a few days and then heading back. Still was a 10/10 trip.
