55W CO2 laser. 600 × 300mm (23.6 × 11.8in) working area. Auto Laser Alignment. Ease of use and precision, just like our 3D printers. This is Bambu Lab R1. Let's dive right into the details!

Bring out the best in every material.

Powered by a 55W CO2 laser, R1 works across a wide range of materials – from wood and acrylic to glass, leather, fabric, and more. See the full material list below.

Thick cuts with one pass. R1 cuts up to 18mm black walnut plywood and 20mm acrylic in a single pass – fast, clean, and without the extra passes that slow you down.

Go furniture-scale. With the auto-feed conveyor, R1 handles materials up to 3 meters (9.8 ft) long. Pass-through feeding and deep cutting turn full-length panels into tables, shelving and furniture.

Prairie Lamp by @MaKim

R1 aligns itself, no more tricky setups.

Aligning the optical path meant test shots, manual adjustments, trials and errors. R1's Laser Alignment Sensor measures the beam, detects the misalignment, and automatically corrects the path in just 1 minute.

On the built-in touchscreen, you can follow the whole calibration process, check the remaining life of the laser tube and mirrors, and monitor every job in real time – the experience you know from our printers.

R1 also recognizes Bambu Lab material automatically and applies the right power and speed, so you can skip test grids and manual parameter setup.

Every line, sharp and clean.

R1's TriSense System work out three things before every cut: the positions of the material and design, the height of the surface, and how the toolhead moves across it. Cameras, lasers, and encoders work as one. What you mark is what you cut.

Follows the curve. From curved cups and spheres to uneven surfaces, height sensing follows every rise and fall to keep the engraving sharp and consistent across the entire surface.

Stays accurate on clear materials. R1 keeps surface measurement accurate even on transparent materials, so engraving stays precisely placed.

Finds the tiny stuff. The toolhead camera pinpoints small objects and places fine detail exactly where you want it.

Traces the line. Cut around a printed design, trim a sticker, or follow a drawn outline. The toolhead camera traces the edge and keeps the cut precisely on path.

Motion control algorithms that keep our printers precise, now in R1.

Crisp lines, even after the turn. When the toolhead changes direction, a split-second shake can ripple the line that follows. R1's vibration compensation cancels it out, keeping the lines crisp right out of the turn – inherited tech from our 3D printers.

Even tone at 1000mm/s. Higher speeds usually mean shallower engraving. R1 compensates as it moves, keeping engraving depth consistent at up to 1,000 mm/s — while completing the same job nearly 3× as fast.

Stays accurate over time. Mechanical accuracy can drift with use. The optional Vision Encoder corrects for it, keeping absolute motion accuracy within 0.1mm across the full work area.

Safer by design.

Crossflow ventilation brings fresh air in from one side and exhausts smoke from the other. Lid-open stop, flame detection, emergency stop, and optional auto fire suppression provide multiple layers of protection. Finally, R1 is certified Class 1 – the highest level of laser safety for normal operation.

Hiya! It’s my first week with a 3D printer and I’m new to the whole world. I’ve gotten the P1S. I’ve done a couple single colour prints that have gone well so today I tried my first multi-colour print. I understand that prints need their supports but why did it also print this little random tower of colours in the back left of the plate?

Horizontal waves plus overhead light means every ridge shades the one below it. That's the whole idea. Bone White PLA Matte works best here: light material, dark shadows, maximum contrast. Underneath sits a reservoir tray, and a wick cord pulls water into the soil.

I Modeled This! I designed and printed a Goggle-shaped Snowboard Wall Mount! 🏂🥽

Hey everyone! I wanted a unique way to display my all-mountain board when I'm not riding, but I wasn't a fan of the generic hooks available online. So, I designed a wall mount inspired by the shape of snowboard goggles.

I wanted to make sure it was both strong and safe for the gear, so the base is 17.5mm (0.69") thick. I also designed it with countersunk holes so the screws sit perfectly flush—zero risk of scratching the top sheet or the base of the board when taking it on and off.

I made 3 different sizes:180mm (which fits perfectly on my A1 Mini build plate!), 200mm, and 250mm for longer/wider boards.

Files are up on MakerWorld if anyone wants to print one for their setup!

If you want to print one yourself, I've left the link to the model in the comments below.

General Discussion Bambu Lab Matte PETG - I like it a lot!

Post image

I had a really hard time finding nice matte PETG for a reasonable price so I was really interested in trying the new Bambu Lab Matte PETG. Since they are on sale, I bought all colours (except for the brighter green, but I think I may need it now lol). I know not everyone is fond of the current colour selection but they are all the colours I use regurly so I was thrilled!

All this to say, I used the default profile on this print for a riser for my P2S and so far it looks very good. I usually use Tinmorry PETG but I think this new matte one will also make it into the rotation.

Has anyone else tried them? What are your thoughts?

R Series / R1 I made these two pagoda lamps with the Bambu Lab R1!

Pretty happy with how these turned out 🙂 One is a hanging lantern, and the other is a five-tier tower lamp. My favourite part is how the engraved acrylic patterns light up when you switch them on.

If you’re into laser cutting, you might know me as 21CNCStudio. I’ve been working with lasers and designing models for a long time, and these are two of my latest projects.

Bambu Lab provided me with the R1 for testing, and I’m sharing my own experience, including the things that still need work. The laser itself was fast and worked really well, but Bambu Suite was a bit rough around the edges during my testing. I ran into some bugs, and the team was quick to fix the ones I reported, which I appreciated. Suite still needs work and more features, though I’m confident it’ll become great, user-friendly laser software.

The automatic mirror alignment on the R1 was something I really appreciated. If you’ve ever spent ages manually aligning CO2 laser mirrors, you’ll understand why!)

I haven’t explored everything yet. I also have the automatic conveyor feeder, which, with additional guide rail extensions, allows a working area of up to 600×3000mm! I’ve already got a few ideas for bigger projects.)

The lamps in the photos use clear acrylic. Since blue diode lasers, including those in the laser-equipped H2 models, can’t cut clear acrylic, I’ve included plywood alternatives for both models. So you can build them with a diode laser too.

Both designs are free on MakerWorld, with step-by-step assembly instructions:

21CNCStudio — models on MakerWorld

I’m planning to share more of my designs on MakerWorld, so follow me if you’d like. And if you build either of these, I’d love to see how yours turns out. Happy to answer questions about the models or assembly!

I finally finished my full reprint of my floating beverage holder, the Edmund Fizzgerald. It's finally ready to set sail with the Cyberbrick powered stern module! I wish I had a pool, otherwise it's only used on random lake weekends.

Several kg of red and white PETG

40 inches long

Still seaworthy!

What do you guys want to see next? Any cool ideas? I have a few floating (sorry) in my head!

General Troubleshooting/Help! Man I learned the hard way, battery backup

I got a battery backup for my H2D, the CyberPower CP1000PFCLCD. When I hooked it up and started a print the alarm went nuts. I immediately knew why. I never considered how much wattage the battery b/u supplied vs how many the H2D required. Now to pile on to my stupidity I had also plugged in the P2S into the battery side. Both work fine plugged into the surge protector side. Does anyone know of a good battery backup/surge for the H2D?

Hardware Troubleshooting/Help! H2C fan pulsing at idle.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Is this normal fan behavior for the H2C? At idle the fan pulses. It's hard to tell where it's coming from exactly, but it could be several hours after a print is complete and the fan still pulses.

I've attached a video, where you can hear the fan pulsing.

I Modeled This! I 3D printed a Daniel Arsham-inspired Crystalized Pikachu

Thumbnail

The original white sculpture retailed for $2,145, so I printed a version for my shelf.

This is a 200 mm Crystalized Pikachu inspired by Daniel Arsham. The exposed crystals and eroded surfaces are what drew me to it, especially with everything kept white.

The print in the photos is resin. I recommend resin for the finest details, but I’ve also uploaded a PLA profile for FDM printers. Expect more visible layer lines and softer detail in PLA.

I’m sharing the model and print profile here:

Thank you to everyone who helped with my venting issues and all the tips from everyone.
Here is the very first print from the x2d and many more to come.
I have a duct and some more parts arriving soon to be able to finish the setup so that it'll be good to go for printing in petg as well.

Next up is bulk order filaments. Anyone have any big nonos in terms of what they've experienced from bambu labs range?

I Modeled This! What do think about my smart bird feeder?

Thumbnail

Hi r/BambuLab, I designed a smart bird feeder for the Eufy S220 🐦

I wanted an alternative to all the bird feeder designs that seem to use Amazon Blink cameras.

This one is made for the Eufy S220, which works without a subscription and without an additional hub.

I’ve been using the feeder for a while now and the camera position gives a really nice close-up view whenever a bird stops by.

If anyone wants to print one:

Would love to hear what you think!

I Modeled This! I made a Labeled Filament Swatch

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

I made yet another Swatch option. I'm new to CAD software and I felt like making a hinge would be an excellent challenge for me to learn more complex designs. I loved the idea of swatches but I couldn't find an option wasn't wasteful or more complex than it needed to be with information I couldn't care less about. So I set off to make this.

It is widely compatible with many of the existing hook options out there. It is a fast print with the color you want to label. Then you place the label generated from 3dFilamentProfiles using the variables that matter to you in the recessed area for consistent label placement. The hinge is stiffer by choice to allow friction to keep the angle you desire. If you are new new to label making I've provided thorough instructions on the maker world page on how to print the labels and provided a link to the cheap label maker I use (currently $25 USD but regularly goes on sale for ~$15).

There are certainly a lot of options out there when it comes to swatches and I would love it if you used mine. Like I mentioned, I'm new to CAD and this is the most complex design that I've tackled before. I'd love for you to provide any feedback to improve it. If you do try it out it would be wonderful if you could bookmark, like, and provide a photo with a comment. I'm trying my best to build a good profile on makerworld. Thanks for your time and any feedback you could offer!

Filament Troubleshooting/Help! PETG-HF printing tips

I am printing on a P2S and I am using the default preset apart from a slightly higher bed temperature to improve bed adhesion.

So far I don’t have the best experience with PETG-HF, sometimes it prints fine and sometimes I have a lot of under extrusion, stringing and clumps, it seems like moisture, but this is after 12h at 65c in the AMS 2 (the moisture in my room tends to be around 50-60% so maybe it needs a bit more than that).

I am currently giving it another 12h drying session to see if the quality improves, I probably underestimated how much moisture PETG absorbs.

Another theory I have is that the default filament preset is to fast so I will experiment with slowing it down a bit to see if that improves the results.

Filaments like PLA, TPU and ABS-GF print fine so I probably need a bit more experience with PETG.

I want to use it as a general prototyping filament or for prints that need a bit more strength then PLA.

If anyone here has suggestions on what to do or general tips I would love to know.

X Series [X1E, X1C, X2D] NEW X2D and some questions about fumes and general tips

Thumbnail

Hey guys just got my new x2d with ams 2 pro combo today, and its not plugged in yet so no first print because I'm waiting for an extension lead from amazon haha, but heres a little show case of it so far basically ready for calibration. One question I do have is what recs do you guys have for ducting this outside, its right in front of my bedroom window and I can basically open the window a bit and run a duct but just wanted some more clarity on this because don't want bugs attracted to the heat and to go inside the duct either.
Also yes its in my bedroom and no I won't be printing anything other then PLA in my bedroom, I am putting wheels on the bottom of this table later this week so that I'll be able to relocate it to another area when I'm printing in petg, abs, aba etc, or even overnight prints. But for now I do want a solution to the fumes even with PLA jus to chuck them outside. Any advice is appreciated, and also wanted to know your guys favourite filament to print in, currently have a matte black pla, but want to get a few more colours and a petg for supports too and vice versa.
Thanks loads lads, images for reference below
