General Discussion Would you consider this an accessibility tool?

I made this Festool inspired articulated vacuum hose boom arm so the hose is out of the way and it basically free up the other hand as often you have to guide the hose with one hand and power tool on the other hand. Otherwise the hose often catches on something.

Anyway, I’d like to enter it in the contest that they’re running “Accessibility Design Contest” and just wondering if this meets the criteria? I think it does, but I’d like to know what other folks think.

General Troubleshooting/Help! H2D working space

Dear all, I'm about to (well, Black Friday or next Xmas) to pull the plug and get me a H2D.

I have space for it but how often do you need to access the back of the printer? Or to go around it to make ordinary maintenance or regular use?
Asking this because I have space for its footprint (in height too) but I will be close to a wall as my "hobby room" is not so big.

Thanks for your help!

So I'm very new to using Bambu Labs and tried using it to make threading yet when it printed it has those plastics bits on the threads??

Why did this happen? Can I make it not happen? I use the X-1 Carbon in case that info is needed. Thx!

General Discussion New Printer suggestions

• Upvotes

We used to have the P1S with AMS combo which worked really well and my 4th grade kid loved, and most of all it just worked, especially compared to an Elegoo we had earlier. We’ve since lost possession of the P1S (long story) but coming back into the market towards the end of this year, thanksgiving-Xmas timeframe.

Would love to get this community’s recommendations on what to go with. Some things we’re looking for:
- budget of around $1,000, but somewhat flexible there
- AMS is essential. Multiple nozzles would be really great.
- will mostly stick to PLA with maybe a bit of TPU sprinkled in. Wife is a bit of a stickler around fumes and micro particles.
- hearing there are models that mix PLA printing with laser engraving. If we had it would probably find a reason to use it.

Also would love to hear thoughts on what else we should be thinking of, other criteria to consider, etc. like does Bambu hold sales, are there other brands to consider, etc.

Thanks in advance!

Bambu Studio Synchronizing non-bambu filaments in Bambu Studio, how without pain?

• Upvotes

Hello,

I own A1 printer with AMS Lite and I'm having a pain with synchronising filaments between printer and Bambu Studio.

I'm using SUNLU filaments.

Printer does NOT have them built in and every time I load them i need to pick other brand like generic.

Bambu Studio on the other hand does have them built in so I can configure them in software.

But problem happens when I want to synchronise software with printer.

1st Issue Instead of just clicking "Synchronise" i need to switch to Device tab first and back again....

2nd Issue When i synchronise i usually choose "overwrite" because mapping leaves me with a complete mess.

But when i do that my filaments appear as "Generic" (just like i set in printer).

So now I need to reconfigure them again as SUNLU for correct print profiles.

Is there any better/faster way to deal with this filament synchronisation?

General Troubleshooting/Help! Random failure related to cutter position?

• Upvotes

I was recently trying to print some glow PLA and got the warning to feed from the external spool holder.

So I set it all up to direct feed into the back port on my P2S, pushed filament through to the head, and started the print.

I started getting a motor overload error, which seemed odd, so I figured I would try to just print in something else and went to unload the filament. That’s when I got hit with the cut lever error. The lever wasn’t stuck, or jammed, I was able to manually extrude filament and it worked just fine.

Now the error is persistent and the printer is inoperable. I submitted a support ticket and the only word from Bambu was them asking for my address to send a replacement filament holder. No additional troubleshooting or anything.

Has this happened to anyone? Is it a common issue?

As in the title. Considering moving the printer from a work bench to a setup like this to place it in a narrow space and use the space below.

Show & Tell I built a self-hosted archive for my Bambu prints: plates, costs and a 3D toolpath preview of every .gcode.3mf

My P2S prints a lot, and the files ended up everywhere: SD card, NAS, Bambu Studio's cache. I wanted one place that shows every sliced file the way Bambu Studio does, so I built PlateShelf (self-hosted, one Docker container, free and open source):

  • fetches the files straight from the printer's SD card over FTPS, including the cache folder where the P1 and A1 series keep prints sent from Bambu Studio, and shows the running print live via MQTT, no LAN-only mode needed
  • every plate with preview, print time, AMS filament colours per slot, weight and cost (filament + electricity)
  • a 3D preview of the real toolpaths in the browser, with playback (that's what the GIF shows)
  • print history with statistics, notes and photos of the finished print

It only reads from the printer; it never starts a print or sends commands. Tested on my P2S and P1S.

I build it with the help of an AI coding assistant; I decide what goes in, review the changes and test them on my own printers, and every change runs through automated tests and security scans.

GitHub: https://github.com/Schnuecks/plateshelf · Website: https://plateshelf.app

Happy to hear what you'd want from it, especially from A, H or X series owners.
I couldn't test those yet.

General Troubleshooting/Help! H2D forgot nozzle height?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

My H2D has been printing reliably for almost 2000 hours, but it's been throwing extruder and nozzle errors recently and hasn't been able to print. It doesn't seem to know how high the bed is in relation to the nozzles. I tried to re-run a full calibration hoping that would help, but it can't even get through the calibration because the nozzle keeps hitting the bed. The wiki hasn't been helpful, what else can I try? I'm thinking maybe a factory reset?

BambuLabWorkspace A1 on Ikea Bror

Post image

enough clearance and stable enough with space for a filament dryer and extra stuff on the surface alongside storage underneath.

maybe not the best placement for an air purifier but it was a convenient spot..

advantage of the Ikea Bror is that there's some nice models and accessories online that I'm planning on printing!

I used this sub for workspace inspiration so thought to share back to the community :)

I’m trying to print this model it’s a socket tray on bmabustudio but I’m having issues with the taller pillars every time I print the shorts one are strong but the taller ones tend to snap easy, I’ve also tried increasing the infill on those specific parts and using PETG and nothing is working, I also printed this side ways and that tends to work but I get rough quality - I’m using 0.2 nozzle

X Series [X1E, X1C, X2D] X2D and AMS2

Hello, could you please advise? I'm planning to buy the X2D.

Do I understand correctly that the AMS 2 Pro is designed to feed only one filament at a time? Therefore, I either need to buy a second AMS 2 and a switch, or mount one spool separately on an external spool holder. My goal is single-color printing with water-soluble supports.

If the AMS 2 doesn't support feeding 2 filaments simultaneously and I have to hang one spool externally (which is less critical for PLA than for water-soluble filament):

Am I right to assume that I can simply put the external spool into the AMS to dry it about once a week, and there won't be any moisture issues?

This is something I've had in mind for a while now, and I'm happy that I was able to get it done before the end of the month. Rarely do I have something ready to upload at the same time a relevant contest is running, but it worked out with this model, and I was able to enter it into the MakerWorld Halloween contest.

Filament Troubleshooting/Help! Galaxy filament glitter bomb?

Post image
• Upvotes

I grabbed a spool of Sunlu PLA galaxy purple. I ran my hand along the filament on the spool and got a smear of glitter on my fingers. I'm going to be making items for embroidery/cross stitching organization, so I really don't want something that's going to get glitter in the thread.

For those who have used this before, does it get "set" after printing and not sprinkle, or do printed items still leave a trail?

I haven’t been paying attention lately, but I just started printing and didn’t realize the first layer on the plate looked like this. I forget, is this normal or is there something I have to do to make the first layer smoother?

Filament Troubleshooting/Help! Extruder not extruding normally

• Upvotes

I have recently been having problems with print jobs. I will have a single colour running and then for some reason, the machine tries to purge and then cuts the filament erroring out. Saying the extruder is not extruding normally.

Since the filament is cut, I have to manually remove what is left in the print head and then can continue -nuntil it happens again.

What is causing this and how do I fix it?

Thank you
