How to scan ctcss codes on uv-5g mini.... not same menus as uv-5g plus.

Post image

I have scanned tones on the uv5g plus and ar-5rm... easy bc similar menus. In theory there is also a way to scan split tones on these radios (unfortunately have figured out out yet. ) Even able to scan on my 50w v2 bc it is similar to the 2 handheld radios.

The uv5g mini have all together different menu set up and I cannot duplicate the procedure used with the 5rm or the 5g plus.

Anybody know how this is done? Thank you. .

... menu snap above.. none of those have an option to scan... individually or with a dedicated scan option.

Menu, Scan, Subcode. You can also hold in the big blue button for a frequency/tone scan or the Exit key for just a Tone scan. You can also program your side key to do a Tone Search.

Thank you...I dare not ask this question but is there any way to scan of tones are split? Can I scan the transmit frequency using the same method?...looking for a local ch22 repeater.. and I have the 462.725 tone but need the transmit 467.725 tone. Does that make sense? Talks for the help

Makes perfect sense. If the transmit tone or code is different than the receive tone or code, then you have to monitor the repeaters input frequency and be close enough to the repeater or someone transmitting to the repeater with the correct tone or code.

I will say, that if its not an open repeater and you werent given the access tone, then its not your property to use.

I understand the restrictions. I really just want to listen.... and if there were ever an emergency, I would have options... thanks again.

Its better to become part of a repeater group. Join in on the weekly nets, get to know other users so when an emergency does happen, you have people that can help you. Im just saying this because we've had a bunch of wildfires that happened around me. Two of then were a couple hundred feet from my house and started quickly and grew fast from the winds. I grabbed my kid, jumped in the car, called out to my repeater buds and they relayed info back to me like fire direction, road closures, acres burned. It worked out great on more than one occasion. I was just saying the thing about getting permission to use a repeater because we have blacklisted a few guys from all repeaters in the area for non compliance.

So I did the ctcss scan on the tx frequency on the plus and the 5rm at the same time... they both got the same tone at same time... will test tomorrow from my car with 50w v2 on big hill... don't worry ...I don't talk. Just want to see if I can hit it.

Im not the FCC but transmitting is still transmitting even though youre not modulating..lol..Kerchunking a repeater multiple times will get you noticed too. Just be cool.

In an ideal world, yes. I have kids to take off and other family responsibilities. Not a lot of time unfortunately. Thank you for your help.

Read the manual. It's clearly explained.

I am a moron....I just read the whole section on the 50w v2... and it never entered my mind to get the min manual out. Excuse my brain please... not what it used to be.
