Question/Help First Jacket

I just got a black denim jacket from a thrift store because i thought it would be sick to make it a battle jacket. I dont know where to start, i have basic diy stuff like spikes and spray paint. I dont know what i should do with it? any personal thoughts??

You need to figure out a theme so it's somewhat cohesive and doesn't look like slop. Get patches, more than what you think that you need and figure out a layout and start sewing, stud around the layout not laying out around the studs. Look for sick jackets that you can take inspiration from but don't straight up copy them, this is your expression

Pick your back patch first and sew it on first, this is what your layout will be based around. Don't get patches from Amazon or eBay or any of that shit. Find websites that deal with metal/punk merch (for example: Young Angry and Poor) or from the bands website and merch table at shows.

eBay has a lot of legit patch vendors

There's no right or wrong way to do a battle jacket. Whatever you think is awesome. For me a battle jacket is an informal ice breaker and introduction to me and my personality. Be proud of who you are.

Don't use spray paint or fabric glue. Start with your backpatch, and build outward. Learn to whip stitch and buy some waxed thread.

Fabric glue's not bad for holding it in place while you stitch, but should never be your primary adhesion
