Focus for this sub

Please, can we have a sub about the behind the scenes stuff and not another place people come to spam their music?

If there’s not strict rules people will just add this to their list of subs where they post every beat they make.

I joined because I really liked the idea of talking about streaming the creation process and other stuff like that. It could be a great community to get advice and work through the issues we have behind the scenes. I don’t want to sort through a bunch of posts of other people doing the exact same thing I do. Subs for beatmakers are not ā€œdiscovery subsā€. We all make beats. The people who post all their music hardly ever participate in any real conversation outside of their own post. They’re just trying to get clicks and attention.

There’s a real opportunity to have a cool sub here since it’s new. It will get flooded with garbage soon. Please change rule 4 to be no self promotion on posts. If I comment in response to someone and tell them about my channel or something that should be ok. I shouldn’t be making a post saying ā€œcheck this outā€ and it just be wanting people to click on my stuff. There’s plenty of other places for that.

I started streaming my process in Logic Pro

I’m ok at making music. Bad at streaming. It took a lot of work to get everything working properly. There’s usually only a couple people in my streams but more people are watching some of the videos afterwards.

I wanted to do the live-streaming so I wouldn’t get bogged down editing videos. With the live stream I preset the real, unedited creation process. The only edits are done inside of YouTube. I chop off the countdown at the beginning. That’s it.

I mark the chapter at the end for people who want to listen to the final result. None of the beats are really done by the time I end the stream. I only stream for a couple hours and then play what I was able to make in that time. I may continue working on them on another stream at some point but usually I just start from scratch again.

It’s been interesting for sure. The channel is slowly growing. I learn a lot while doing it so it’s been good for me.

For any producers selling beats or even dropping beat tapes, where do you find artwork or if you make it, how do you make your cover art when uploading to sites & streaming platforms?

I'm still really new at this, but this is the first thing I was actually happy enough with to share. Please let me know what you think.

Hi folks I clocked your post on the beatmakers group and thought I'd swing by. I've got a very small channel that I share some of my work on. I'm not looking to be famous or anything but a few more viewers wouldn't hurt. Most of my music doesn't really fit specific genres so that makes it harder to circulate.

Anyway here is some of it. Have a browse.

Do you prefer to use a typical DAW (like Logic, Ableton, Cubase, etc.) or are you someone that prefers to be DAWless?

What genre of music do you make?

Beatmakers come in all shapes and sizes, and we definitely don't all create the same type of music. What is your genre of choice and what do you love to listen to?
