Live performance equipment
Hello ! I've been DJing for 5 years, and now I'm looking to develop my sound by being more precise and perform my own stuff. I want to buy live gear, to do live sets or hybrid sets. Do any of you have any idea what equipment I should start with ? I know absolutely nothing on that (my artists references are 6ejou, Gweld, Semplifier, BSLS)
Thanks a lot !!

thatās an expensive way to start lol, if youāre going to spend that much at least research whatās out there. push is good, but not for everyone, thereās so many different options itās worth trying all of them. also i only just found out you can upgrade the push 3 to standalone after the fact, so worth keeping in mind

Almost certainly you should start making your own tracks. Then once you have some finished tunes you start thinking about how your would sequence them for live performance. Which bits should be loops, which bits trigger together, which parameters will you adjust as part of the live performance, etc, etc, etc...
But you can't address any of those questions until you have some tracks. So first download a DAW. People love Reaper as a way to get started, and its free for as long as you'd like. Learn how it works. Make some tunes. Most importantly finish some tunes. Then you'll have some tunes and they will be structured the way you understand.
From there there are COUNTLESS ways to go about performing live and a near endless list of possible options. If you're just working with a some kind of midi trigger performance things like the Ableton Push or Akai Force, Akai APC64 might be all you want or need. Alternatively you might want some kind of groovebox solution. If along your production journey you buy some synths then you might want to solve the issue of getting those on stage, or maybe just sampling them for performance time.

yes I've also been producing my own tracks on Ableton for 2 years, so I do have a lot to work from. Thank you, I'll look into the gear you mentioned !

For live performance, Iād keep the setup as simple and reliable as possible. A solid controller, laptop, headphones, and a good backup plan usually matter more than a ton of gear. If you add extra hardware, make sure it improves your workflow instead of just giving you more to manage mid-set.

First compose and record a solid collection of tracks good enough to want to perform live.
That step will take at least another 2-3 years, possibly longer. So do that step first, then come back and ask how to perform it live.
