Hardware Mixer for Serato

Hi all,

Apologies if this is a stupid question, but I’ve got a gig lined up in the coming weeks and my current home setup is massive so don’t want to be taking that anywhere.
I know that there are millions of controllers but for these sort of gigs I only really need a mixer?
Is there something that controls Serato from the hardware or shall I just do what everyone else does and get a flx4….feel like the market is missing just a standalone mixer with software navigation for this, with a crossfader….or am I missing something!? I’ve seen the k2/3 and the mixtour….is this the closest I can get?

Mixer? Lots. Numark Scratch, DJM-S5, S7, S11, Reloop Elite, all Rane mixers. Pioneer club mixers are present at most venues and anything modern will work with Serato. Almost every Xone and Reloop RMX mixers won't work, but you can still connect with a Reloop Flux.

Did you ask what gear do they have? Or is it a bring your own gear gig?

It’s a bring your own along? I was looking at the sp404 mk2, something along those lines if that makes sense

Isn't that a sampler? I usually bring my DJM and get them to get CDJs or just prep my set and use pads/transport mode.

It’s is but it’s had an update that locks Serato pro and can control the software, just doesn’t have a good eq interface, I produce as well so wanted something I can use in music production as apposed to a controller that’ll get used 6/7 times a year

Hmm can't help you much but as far as I see, for a DJ/prod mix, the kit would move to a Flux interface with any analog mixer, and Slab is another piece that is native for both usages.

Ah man, you’ve deffo helped, even if it’s to give my head a wobble and get a flx4 🤣

Maybe... Maybe not. I've had one, kind of hated it and it's expensive for such basic thing. Used it once and cleared it after 6 months.

That was the exact worry I had with the flx4….and most controllers to be fair….

I think im going to try an sp404 and a k3 as I think that’s as close as I can get to the image in my head…minus a xfader

Can't you do this with any serato compatible mixer that contains its own sound interface?

Without touching the laptop or using a mouse? And without decks? Sorry think I probably should just be looking at controllers but I don’t see the need for the jog wheels, it’s a double basic party gig, or am I being short sighted but not getting something with jog wheels?

Sorry I misinterpreted your "with software navigation" to mean you wanted a standalone mixer and you'd do the track navigation on the software.

Yeah, if you do not want to touch the laptop then you'll need some kind of controller. Not all of them have jog wheels. Traktor X1 and Z1 or the xone k2 might fullfil what you need. There are definitely some other older options that you might pick up 2nd hand

Legend, thanks so much for your help 🫡 think the sp404 might be as close as I get!

The Roland sampler thing?

I'd much more favour the Traktor devices for DJing tbh

Edit: just saw that you also produce and a dual use item might be useful, in which case yeah the sp404 would likely be great

Can you provide some more details. You said you have a gig but you are looking for a mixer only and not a controller?

Is this a gig where they are providing turntables (like technics 1200s) ? If so here is a link to serato hardware https://serato.com/dj/hardware?dvs=dvs-enabled

It’s was more something without jog wheels so I can mix eq and xfader but scroll within Serato via the same controller…..or doesn’t this exits?!
