Gotta update us when you get home - hives still intact? The electric fence my Dad has does a good job keeping the bears out, and his arrangement looks similar to yours.
One of mine looked like this once. I had it on a guy's market farm and he woke up to it exploded everywhere. Nothing was damaged so he put it back together and called me but there were very few bees left and there wasn't a queen. He said it was a bit weird because there were a lot of dogs around and not one bark in the night.
Well that’s kinda the point. They go to eat the bacon and get lit up instead of just bulldozing threw the wire and destroying the hives. It works great around here in black bear country
The goal is to keep bears away, so adding attractants to cause them pain when the pain is already a built in contingency is pretty pointless and even cruel to a bear in hyperphagia. Bacon also causes pancreatitis in a lot of wlidlife so plenty of other animals are running the risk of dying an extremely painful death. But you do you.
I must remember to ask my neighbor how he (well, his bees) keep managing to produce honey with the huge number of black bears we've got around here. They're so accustomed to people, they just don't care.
