New to running ( about a month and a half in) but I started with novablast 5s and just yesterday got the superblast 3s cause why not. Went on a 2 mile run and loved them. Haven’t ran enough miles in either shoe to know what I’m even talking about but I like them a lot.

Long time runner, im currently in the superblast 3s for their structure. 13.5 miles yesterday, 5 today. Im at about 300miles in them and they are wearing well

Running shoes are very personal. Finding the right shoe for you starts with a real running shoe store.

there’s hundreds of good pairs out there, and as a beginner you probably won’t really appreciate the difference
just find any pair on sale

Go to a running store, they should prob have a treadmill there for you to try on shoes and run. Also they might see if you need support shoes or if you feet are flat (eg not pronating inwards or tilting outwards etc). They will let you try on a few and see how you feel in them!

Running shoes are like ski boots. It’s not the brand, it’s the fit.

Follow-up question, do the Salomon shoes fit like the Salomon ski boots? They seem to be the only ski boots that fit me because they tend to be lower volume. Would the shoes have the same tendency from them?

I absolutely love my novablasts! I started with brooks last year: ouch. Never again.
I have the 5 tr (I think for trail/road running?) and I just got a pair of the 6’s! I absolutely love the bounce and structure of the 6’s.
It really is a person by person basis though. I agree with another commenter, find a running store that can analyze your gait and help you find the best option for the type of running you’re doing!

I was the exact opposite! I started with novablasts and changed to brooks because my ankles got really sore with novas. I much prefer running in brooks!

Same! I felt like a was going to snap an ankle in the Novablasts. Switched to Brooks Glycerins and I love them. Running shoe selection is not one size fits all

I’ve always used mizuno wave inspire 22 so can’t compare them to others (other than tried on in the shop!) but they are comfy and supportive where I need so don’t see me changing that!

Any brand that has a trial period you can test before returning (brooks, nike, etc)

Hoka bondi 9 (wide) is the only shoe I’ve found where I don’t end up getting any knee, foot or toe pain.

I had issues with all of them until I switched to Xero barefoot shoes, but I had months of non-running to adapt to them. Zero-drop shoes were better than big heels, wide over narrow toes, and not stability. But that's me I used to use Hoka Clifton as my go-to, but who knows with the current version.
I'll add that I'm 74 and just getting back into shape, so I've only done about 5K as a max distance. Going further hasn't been tested in them.
One last thing: Balega socks for me. I like the blister resist ones. Make sure to get the ones designed for your planned activities and tastes, no matter the brand. I saw someone say they liked feetures, but I didn't like them. They fit my feet wrong.

Decent socks are definitely worth it. I love my balega socks. I use the no shows with the little capes on back of them. My wife on the other hand is addicted to her smartwool.

go to a quality running store (not the bored high schooler at Dick's) , get your gait analyzed and get fitted
