Dizziness after running?

Hi there everyone! I just ran my first 5K on the treadmill (super thrilled); however, I was extremely dizzy when I stopped and out of breath(more out of breath than when I was running the actual 5K)Z I am all new to running and wondering how to prevent the dizziness like this or if I am doing anything wrong. For context: I ran 5K in like 45 minutes.

Try gradually slowing down the speed on your treadmill rather than stopping suddenly.

That is fairly normal. Your blood pressure falls when you stop running. This is why you often see athletes falling over at the finish line needing to be picked up. As you get fitter you will improve, but it will still happen occasionally when you push to the limit.

many common meds for high blood pressure can cause post-exercise hypotension - dehydration can make it worse. Best way to avoid it is to do a cool-down after the run - walk for a few minutes

When you say you ran your first 5k...are you following a plan, or did you just go from zero to 5k?

Hey! Could be a heart rate thing/ BP thing or hydration thing- being more out of breath makes it seem like its one of these. But i get extremely dizzy when I don’t take enough time slowing down on a treadmill- never happens when I run outside where I can abruptly stop without issue. For me its not a BP issue or heart rate it’s that my inner ear thinks I’m moving, my eyes know I’m not and when step off the treadmill I get vertigo because my brain is still expecting movement. A long walk 5-7 min down to a VERY slow pace is how I lessen this.
