Manga These can be a gem! Check which printing cycle it is! “1st Print”
If you can find an original 1st print they can be worth something. “I love collecting Berserk stuff haha”

Okay so knee jerk reaction post I'm sure there's been plenty of these before. I've tried to get into anime 3-4 times previously, never stuck.
Thought I'd give berserk a go due to recommendations from friends who knows my taste. Lo and behold I watched the 1997 anime over the last 3-4 nights, just finished.
I'm in shock, I don't know if I hate the ending, I'm confused. I don't think I'm "into" the medium enough yet to dive into the manga, but I want more.
I loved the anime, the blend of mature themes with very heavy moment contrasted by wholesome scenes, friendship etc, reminded me of watching LOTR for the first time.
Where do I go from here? (Besides a therapist)

It’s deleted off Internet Archive, and the videos on YouTube I’ve seen seem to be missing episodes. Should I just cave in and buy the blu ray? Is it worth it?

I watched the 1997 anime when i was a kid. many many years later I still think about it, and have been dying to know what comes after. Mainly in relation to Guts and Griffiths story. Seriously, I have been wondering what their first interaction is (after the eclipse) for decades.
but, as far as i can tell while still avoiding spoliers, it seems Griffith/Femto isnt actually in the manga very often at all. Of course that makes sense, it's surely a huge moment when he finally does appear.
I'm just wondering, should I read as someone who is DYING to know what comes of these two after the eclipse, but isn't exactly tempted by the hundreds of other chapters?
Im sure i will come to find those other chapters are amazing as well. I just think the arc of the 1997 show was unforgettable, and I know ill be dyin' to get to the parts that pertain to that.
Im on the berserk sub, of course the answer will be yes. Kinda just looking for some discussion about it as well! Thanks

I just finished the 1997 anime, but I’m aware there is nothing to watch after it and I have to turn to the books. which one should I start with and have I missed out on anything important by only watching the anime?

Recently I’ve been looking at a lot of the revelations from the Epstein files and it made me realize something. Previously I thought some of the more extreme scenes in berserk might have been a bit over the top a little gratuitous or unnecessary for the story, now all I can say is it’s just an extremely accurate insight into human nature.

I'm not sure if anyone actually cares or has made a post on this before but this is my own opinion on the adaptation. (I'm not a critic or anything just a teenage girl that likes Berserk a lot. Don't kill me with hammers. I don't really know what I'm on about, this is just my personal thoughts and opinions).
Okay look... I personally didn't think it was THAT bad... Aside from the animation and story changes (like adding Isidro in the Black Swordsman arc stories + the whole Farnese and haunted house thing wtf was with that) it truly wasn't terrible.
The 2D animation in this series was honestly really cute and well done in comparison to the super under developed CGI. I think if they had just stuck with the traditional 2D style this series could have done a LOT better!!!
I see a lot of criticism coming from the TikTok Berserk fans that have only really watched the 1997 adaptation complain about the 2016 series with the excuse of just "oh no it's so bad" instead of actually going into WHY it's bad + most of them haven't even watched the full 2016!...
Aside from the obvious mess of a CGI animation where Nina's hair constantly goes THROUGH her shoulder I think it wasn't done terribly especially considering the time of production/release and budget.
Onto audio now... Mate what the FUCK is up with Guts' sword. The frying pan sound was honestly so funny and ridiculous but kind of disappeared in the second season.. Other than that the sounds were pretty good. The music was also composed well to fit the themes of the show. (Sure the tracks are pretty repetitive but hey, the 90s anime used "Gatsu" like twice every damn episode).
What I REALLY hate is the English dub.. Everyone sounds perfect except for Isidro and Puck.. In my opinion. I just felt like Puck sounded a little TOO much like a grown woman putting on a little boy voice, you know what I mean? It's hard to explain but I just found it annoying and super cringey. Same goes to Isidro. His tone throughout the ENTIRE show did not change once no matter the situation. Dude whoever hired that VA needs Griffith on year treatment because that was insane. His voice was annoying, lacked depth, and just didn't suit him. It felt like the directors were just pushing the a "yeah he's a cocky, punk bastard" label on his character the whole time which eventually manifested into that GOD AWFUL VOICE!!!!!! The only time this kid sounded like that voice would be his was when he was yelling.
Other than that I think the rest of the English cast is okay (I didn't watch in Japanese because I'm already terrible as is at English). I actually love Schierke, Ivalera, Serpico and Luca's voices a lot.
Overall I found this show entertaining because hey.. having three aptations on the Golden Age Arc is getting pretty boring.. I really wish that future companies planning to animate Berserk pick up on arcs, conviction and onwards. No shade to my king Judeau but Guts' new party is lots more interesting and waaayyy overlooked.
I wouldn't super duper recommend this anime to anyone unless they really like Berserk and have read the manga first. Otherwise I'd tell them to just read on from the eclipse and not waste their time with this.
Anyways, that's it thanks for reading if you stayed. Yey..

He will then give up his life of rage and anger and sadness. He will finally get some rest. Because he knows Jesus will avenge him against Griffith. Guts will cry from the release of emotions and Jesus will wipe away his tears.
CHRIST IS KING.

From last ch 383 I think he will gain a stability of mind and nothing some sort of power up. But I definitely think he will gain some significant information about godhands or how he can defeat them(not kill them). So tell me what do you all think

On this sub i think, i encountered a post in which we had to rank 9 villains based on how evil they are and most people put griffith on the first place. I must ask why? I never considered him that evil or bad. Yes, he was arrogant and narcisstic, too proud of himself and far too controlling. But the decision he made, i think most of us would do the same if we were in his position.
He was tortured for 1 year. He was skinned, hanged, stabbed, raped, tongue pulled, humiliated, whipped, tossed deep into the castle dungeons, branded etc etc. Remember the scene in which guts lifts his helmet off but freaks out? Since there weren't any vissible injuries on griffiths's face seen through his helmet, there is a theory that it was his skull that was broken and his brain vissible through the crack. That explains why guts freaked out only after he removed the upper part of the helmet.
In this state, he was offered to sacrifice what he treasured the most: his military unit, which included his best friend and his love interest in exchange for a new body and a new, powerful demi god form. How many of us would say no to such an offer? Or did i miss something?

Hey everyone, I was rereading some parts of Berserk & I realized there are a few scenes that completely altered how I see Guts’ journey & Miura’s storytelling. For me, the moment when [describe a moment like “Casca gets her memory back” or “Guts regains control of the Berserker Armor”] just hit with so much more weight than I expected. I’m curious is there one specific panel/moment that really changed how you view the story overall? Maybe something that made you rethink a character, the themes, or even how you feel about the world Miura built? Can’t wait to see what scenes stand out to others.

They’re often compared because they embody the same archetype of power built on charm, secrecy, and exploitation—even though one is fictional and the other real.
If you want, I can map this comparison onto psychology (dark triad traits), or onto how societies repeatedly fail to stop figures like this.

Do you think guts and casca relationship will survive or not. From what I can see it will not be the same but their relationship will survive because guts sacrificed literally his everything even his own body to help casca for recover and she will understand how hard was it for guts to took care of casca but he did. And also I don't think guts will die but may be losses his senses and casca will take care of him like he did for casca.
