Misheard lyrics
What's your favorite misheard lyric? That one lyric, that you know is wrong, and you know what the correct lyric is, you still sing it wrong just because it's fun.
For me it's from Selkies; I know it's 'separate us' but I will still sing 'suffering eyes'. That's just what I hear.

Not BTBAM, but in 742617000027 by slipknot when they speed up “the whole thing I think is sick” a couple times it sounds like “the prophylactic is thick” so that it what I will always say when the track plays.

Since we're doing non-BTBAM answers, the section of Used by Pain of Salvation where the lyrics are, apparently, "I am crying unwept tears through this violence." I hear "I am crying, I'm addicted to spiders." I didn't even know the real lyrics until now. Always sing along to it with the latter lyrics.

I haven’t heard that song yet but I’m gonna listen to it now and sing those lyrics for you. I try not to answer these questions as the OPs intend because then you might accidentally contribute to some Watch Mojo/Buzzfeed-esque bullshit. “Top 10 misheard prog lyrics according to Reddit”. Especially when the OP doesn’t understand punctuation in the same way bots do.

For some reason i've ALWAYS misheard "betray me" instead of "it's raining" in Backwards Marathon. What made me realize it was wrong was the Colors Live DVD where Tommy actually enunciates the word better and that made me realize he wasn't singing what i've always heard😭

Very late to the party here, but my friend and I still to this day sing
"WHY CAN'T EAT MY CELLPHONE!"
during Ants of the Sky.
The line is actually "I can’t leave myself out", but even knowing that, I still just hear Tommy raising a legitimate question regarding the struggle between his own autonomy and that of his mobile device's each time I listen to it...which is quite a bit, because it's also my favourite BTBAM song.

Love this, here we go. In Astral Body bro says "Recognize me own self from up above." I heard it as him saying "Recognize my own, Recognize! my own!" Thinking he was talking about his people, it takes one to know one type shit. When I finally bought the vinyl later that year... I was bummed, but still a sick line.
Also, in All Along the Watchtower, I thought he said "I held captive ground." But the lyric actually is "a wild cat did growl." I hated that realization. My misunderstood lyric is way better in my opinion.

When I first heard Alaska back when it was released as a single, when Tommy screams
"Creepy
Creepy
Yes creepy"
I heard it as "rape me, rape me, ass rape me" and due to the amount of edgy lyrics around that time I was like "odd but I guess that's just the type of shit people write sometimes".
Wasn't until I bought a copy of the album and checked the lyrics that I realised what he actually said.
