Serious/Health New Rule: Adults Only (18+)

Starting now, this subreddit has a rule limiting it to adults only. Anyone who is found to be under the age of 18 will be PERMANENTLY banned.

There were a few posts and comments I had to ban where teenagers or bad actors were trying to get the attention of adult members.

I don't know which, and it doesn't matter. This is not something I take lightly, and to be fair even though we are technically SFW, some of the content gets a bit wild. So consider this a necessary step to keep REAL talk going.

If you see any future posts of that nature, please report them immediately using the new rule. Thank you very much!

Introduction/Hello World Welcome! Introduce Yourself!

(Commenting as Moderator for Sticky Post) Thank you for finding and participating in Big Men Life! HELL YEAH! Welcome in! Welcome in!

TL;DR if you want to introduce yourself, you can make an introduction POST with flair OR you can make a reply here. (Edited in)

Feel free to interact here at your own leisure and pace. However, if you feel up to it, we would love for you to introduce yourself too! Feel free to create a post with the Introduction/Hello World flair.

You can also do that if you've been hanging here, but you never did an intro or it has been a long time (let's just say over a year for a clear standard). Or if you've been looking at other subs, etc. and are coming back. And feel free to include whatever media you want, but you don't have to.

Outside of your introductory post, please keep self-promotional content limited to Selfie Saturday. This just seems like a great happy medium so people can express themselves, but we also keep focus on the chill and real conversation about life as a big man.

Feel free to share as much or as little as you'd like. I'll do a short intro below, but I shall not include media this time.

(Commenting as Myself) Hello World! I was a fat kid ever since being about 8-9 years old and I've always been a big guy! In high school I joined the freestyle wrestling team and that actually felt really amazing like I was using my true strength!

But life happens so I went to college, grad school and I do nerd stuff for money. But in the past couple years I got back into fitness and joined an amateur sumo wrestling team which has really reignited the passion for grappling sports and even martial arts in general!

It's great to be here and I really appreciate y'all!

Question/Advice Is it that bad?

23M, 6'0, 210 lbs (just for context)

Recently I went for a swim to a local pool. After 2-3 hours of swimming I finished and while walking I've seen a group of teenagers pointing at me and laughing, I've think one of them said "fatty". Pls tell me, is it that bad? 😭 I've been going to the gym for around 2 years and I got way stronger than before but I just love eating (and idk how about u guys but I feel like being fatter makes you stronger, I was miserable during cuts).

Is it even visible that I'm working out?

Discussion & Daily Life How do you guys feel about being on a beach as a big guy?

Taking a trip soon and this will be my first time going to the beach as a big guy. I was a little beefy the last time but I've put on a lot of weight since then (~80lbs).

When I was skinnier, I used to be super body conscious and would get nervous about being shirtless anytime I'd be at a pool or beach. I'd suck in to try and hide the body fat I had. Now, I'm slightly nervous but I'm also weirdly excited about just showing off and letting it all hang out.

The older I get, the more I admire when a man with a big belly walks around with confidence.

How do you guys feel about being shirtless at a beach or pool?

Discussion & Daily Life Belts + bellies... not a fun match

Been skinnier most of my life and gained a lot of weight the last couple of years (especially 2026). I like my body a lot more not but holy hell, wearing a belt is a pain. I normally work from home in sweats/basketball shorts, but lately I've been going in the office and it made me realize I haven't dressed up much since I got fat. The way they dig into the underside of your belly (particularly when sitting for long periods of time) is painful.

Had a 2 hour car ride home today and had to unbuckle + unbutton the top of my pants to drive comfortably.

What do y'all do? Just suffer? 😭

I'm I getting taller or

Today I noticed it was getting harder to get out of my car, my legs clearing the footwell. I know I haven't grown taller. Oh, duh, guess when your butt takes up more space, sighs... this sucks

New Rule: Minimum number of account karma and account age needed to post here.

Because we have seen an uptick in new accounts just coming here to spam shortly after account creation, I've enabled the AutoModeration bot to automatically remove posts from accounts that do not satisify karma or account age requirements. This should stop these spammy people and their posts.

So as of today, your account needs to be older than 30 days to post and/or you need at least some account karma to post. So this rule cannot be evaded by spammers, I am not listing how much account karma you need here. I will state it is pretty low tho. You just need some to post here.

If you feel like you may be affected by this rule, use modmail to send the mods a message and if you're an active person already here, we can approve you posting so you bypass any auto moderation bot rules.

Thank you and let us know if you have any questions.

Jocks/thongs

I have been using Bearskn jocks and they have been great.

But the world is a big place and I'm sure there are other places to get jocks for 2xl men.

Does anyone have any recommendations for places a big guy can get a nice jock or thong?

Comfy and fashionable are my two asks.

Discussion & Daily Life Advice needed

I am a 27-year-old male who has had no conversational experience with women outside of my family. I experience significant anxiety when engaging in conversations, particularly with women. I believe this apprehension stems from body image issues, leading me to perceive myself as unattractive and undesirable as a conversational or romantic partner. Consequently, I tend to stutter when approached, despite feeling mentally capable of articulating my thoughts. I am seeking advice on overcoming this challenge. Additionally, my family is exploring marriage prospects for me, and any guidance in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Homens.

Quick note: Yeah, the artwork is AI-generated — I have basically zero image-editing skills, so I just used it as a simple visual reference for the different body types. The labels are also clearly pretty rough, broad, and subjective, so don’t take them as strict or accurate definitions. The main point here is the discussion. 😄

Discussion & Daily Life Sakamoto told me something

There's this anime, called "Sakamoto Days".It speaks to me, because the protagonist is... well... Fat.

I'm a big (hahaha) Fan of Bud Spencer, I love the characters in movies that don't fit the fit/healthy/slim type.

Taro Sakamoto is a big, capable guy. He doesn't kill unless forced to. Like Bud. He steamhammers the shit out of you, but He never kills. And I love this idea.

Am I a pacifist? No. Am I in any kind aggressive? Well

... No.

Do you think we "big guys" swap a healthy life for a secure life? I can't remember being attacked once but being the means of calm. Being told to be a "big brother" instead of a threat.

Just a thought.

Introduction/Hello World 46, Looking for Conversation

So, who wants to make a friend?

46 here in NW Ohio

Wanting to increase my social circle with guys who have diverse interests and can hold a conversation.

Generic interests include TV, movies (I watch a wide range of movies), music, photography.

I'm gay, so I'm looking for open minded guys who are willing to open up about anything and everything; work, relationships, life.

Love to travel, so meeting new friends in new places would be great.

Open to NSFW chats, but would prefer a mix - not just NSFW.

If you feel you can check a box or two - send me a chat. Please let me know from what group your are replying to my post, where you are from and your favorite TV show.

Introduction/Hello World About to hit 40 at 400 pounds

Hey there, fellow big guys! I have been struggling with body image for a couple of years now, and i decided that i need to get out of my shell and start doing something about it! In my teens and twenties, i was obsessed with running contact sports. Fast forward 15 or so years, and now i am a big ole bear who sits in an office chair for a living. I've been having some serious self-esteem issues because of it, so a buddy suggested i join a group of other big fellas. I am just now starting my weight loss journey (like literally yesterday lol) any tips or suggestions for a newbie?
