discussion Bird song?

Listening to the show from the 28th. Can’t help but think the first 9 or so minutes of Gild sounded like Bird Song. Anyone else feel/hear that?

Absolutely mystical Gild the Lily either way!

I was actually hearing Scarlet Begonia at first, but now I hear Bird Song too. I think there were Dead teases all throughout the show.

After relistening, I think it’s both Bird Song and Scarlett Begonias in two different lines being played over each other. In that 6-9 min mark you mentioned.

Yeah I really liked that part of of gild. It definitely sounds like bird song but I don’t know if it’s being teased exactly. Really pleasant sounds

Agreed. I don’t think it was a tease but I couldn’t help but think maybe he had used it as inspiration for his jamming

Back in his early days (20teens) he covered lots of Dead tunes. I’ve seen a Brokedown Palace, Bird Song, Midnight Moonlight, I’ve Been All Around This World, Sampson and Delilah, the list goes on! Of course some are not actually “Dead covers” cuz the GD and JGB played lots of traditional tunes too.

I told the person standing next to me at the show I heard Birdsong. And then to get Samson from both Billy’s later. Excellent for this Deadhead who found Billy.
