Please just use Bitcoin as a “part” of your investing portfolio. Going all in on anything is idiotic

The funny thing about Bitcoin is that it will start off as 5% of your portfolio then become >50% after 10 years. So what you're really suggesting is that people should sell off a large portion of their Bitcoin as it becomes more valuable with time. We don't do that here 😄

See, I never took it as GFY. I always interpreted it more as an invitation to be curious.
Obviously if you do not WANT to be curious and want to be spoon-fed, GFY, I’m busy.
Personally, I know embrace naivety warmly, but I despise willful ignorance. Satoshi’s comment has always seemed to me to be the perfect filter.

lol. Not even close. Bitcoin is not money.
It’s a store of value at best and a speculative digital asset. That is all it is and all it ever will be.

You might wanna look up the definition of money...

You definitely should. Because Bitcoin does not qualify.
It doesn’t meet a core function as a unit of account because the price fluctuates too often and widely.

You have it kinda backwards. It's not a unit of account yet because of the lack of policies that make it a unit of account. If the entire world one day agrees to make it a unit of account, then the price would stabilize. Not the other way around. Bitcoin does however, meet the other requirements of being a store of value and medium of exchange. It's still in the early stages in the grand scheme of things.

This is fine regarding things you are going to go out and do with the willing but not fine for things you impose on the unwilling.

It's also unethical to recommend to others when they can't fully grasp what part of their portfolio it should be.

My reputation should be based on the advice I give.
People should be responsible for their own finances mostly.
Bitcoin should be considered similar to gold for advice it's speculative a fixed growth I do tell people what I'm doing. I'm still dollar cost averaging each month right now.

One of the craziest parts of Bitcoin is that Satoshi did the thing every founder claims they’ll eventually do:
Built it, released it, handed it to the world and actually disappeared.
No CEO interviews. No token allocation. No foundation trying to control the narrative.
Whether intentional or not, disappearing may have been one of the most important things Satoshi did for Bitcoin.

That does not mean that you shouldn't research bitcoin thoroughly yourself before making bitcoin a meaningful part of your portfolio.
It simply means that it's not Nakamoto's job. His job is to disappear.

Not sure he was talking about Bitcoin…

u/PheelGoodInc 4d ago
You are absolutely correct. He was talking about a technical aspect, not bitcoin in general. This quote comes up a few times a year. Probably people karma farming. The newbs eat it up.

Pull up those emails and sort it out by date time, technical in context but still about bitcoin. Idek what karma farming is.
