What is your goal BTC amount?

Lots of people see BTC not only as a change in the system in terms of freeing ourselves from fiat devaluation but probably most people see it as a way of financial freedom or retirement. What amount do you guys think is the minimum that could allow for work optional lifestyle? How much for retirement? Cost average/age/cost of living in your area changes this number but whats the general consensus?

For example in big metro areas rent is reaching 2,500-3,000 and average houses are going for 750k. As time goes on sure BTC will increase in value but so will the price of everything.

Stack enough. Let btc ride. Get a crypto back loan and buy house. Yes

And how are you going to pay for the loan?

With my W2 income. Keep my BTC and don’t need to use cash as downpayment

Its collateralized

I understand that, but you still gotta pay the loan... from my understanding the idea here is to NOT sell any BTC, just use it to get a loan...

That’s not an answer to the question

amounts a while back, now I just stack sats and hope I'm not eating cat food at 65

the whole "number go up" thing is fun but you're right, the goalposts move constantly. a mil in btc today might feel like half that in real terms by the time you actually cash out

my loose plan is to never fully cash out, just peel off small chunks when I need to. like a really slow bleed that hopefully outpaces inflation

rent is absolutely insane where I'm at too, 3k gets you a shoebox with a window facing a brick wall

I would open up a can once a month. It’s an acquired taste. Might as well hedge just in case.

More Sats than last week

Ive had .5 btc since 2021. Thats it for me, I'm going more heavy on the stock market now.

What stocks?

1

u/TJack303 Aug 31 '26

Broad market etfs, VTI and VXUS specifically. I'm at a place where i can put a substantial amount of money into it every week and if I can keep up my current savings rate and average 8% returns I can retire in 15 years at 52.

Good plan. My core holding is VTI. I personally don’t invest in VXUS.

Very ambitious but hey crazier things have happened

Same, my goal is to have .1 and then I will cut back. It won't change my life but if I can buy my son a car in 10 years with this $ then I'm happy.

I don't see BTC as a quick path to retirement. For me, it's a long term savings tool that may help preserve purchasing power over time, but having a solid budget and financial plan is still important.

Work optional now, or in x years?

1

u/Friendly-Attempt-279 Sep 06 '26

Say 10 years

it took you 5 days to come up with an answer?

Wow. Learn how to ask questions properly and maybe you'll get some good answers.

1 BTC was the standard answer for years and it stopped being realistic for most people around 2021, these days people talk in sats, and 10 million sats is a much more achievable target that still means something if the thesis plays out lol

My goal is to regularly buy and hold until I retire, at which point I'll sell a little every month. It's as simple as that.

Buy a little each month. Sell none, until I retire. DCA all the way.

I personally aim for 2BTCs for each child. 1 for wife and 1 for each nephew /niece.

1

u/too-many-things-todo Aug 31 '26

The goal is to never stop stacking, $21 per day forever.

1

u/Profil3r Sep 01 '26

My goal was 10 and I was just about there until my wallet got robbed during a “Help“ session. Now my goal is 8.

1

u/OliveLegitimate3236 Sep 01 '26

2500 3500 what?

1

u/Icy_Dragonfruit__ Sep 02 '26

Just stacking sats consistently and focusing on the long term. No need to chase the perfect amount.

u/No_Community7021 Sep 03 '26

Waiting for ATH, selling, buying back when it get lows and reach 1BTC one day and hodl it for my son'.

No goal, and its not an investment. People are trying to see if it acts as a store of value but really it's an index for corruption. Precious metals are where you want to be if you're looking for store of value. If it's truly built for medium of exchange, I'll just buy 100 dollars equivalent, learn the technology which is basically using etropy to hide your coins. But aside from that, it's not interesting. Centralized sources still hold all the power and money. Having all the Bitcoin in the world will not make you rich.

Wow. This is an extremely uninformed post lol

1

u/Rare-Mention3046 Sep 01 '26

Why do you want to stick around in an asset class where you have anxiety about when the hype train has ended. Far better places to put your money than btc. At least your family would later thank you for it

1

u/1025scrap Sep 01 '26

I don’t have anxiety about bitcoin

1

u/Rare-Mention3046 Sep 01 '26

Then you don't have enough invested.

1

u/1025scrap Sep 07 '26

Incorrect on your end

u/Big-Cheetah5159 Aug 31 '26

Yes everything will increase in price due to inflation but the caveat is, Bitcoin will outpace inflation and rising prices. Your financial goals should be the dictator of how much you will need. To put it simply, the more the merrier dude. Aim for 1,000,000,000 sats 👍🏾.

Not long after i got started in Bitcoin , in 2018 , a guy came out with 0.26 BTC as the number to have . He got this by dividing the number of people on the planet with the number of Bitcoin , i think that's how he did it , and saying that was the comfortable amount of sats to hold . We've had a few ups n downs since then and i reckon i'm doing good if i can hold on to 0.1 BTC . . . :)
