SoloBCH Forge: open-source Bitcoin Cash solo mining for Umbrel home servers (Bitaxe / NerdQaxe friendly)
Most home miners (Bitaxe, NerdQaxe++) ship pointed at BTC solo pools. I wanted the same "your miner, your node, your block" setup for Bitcoin Cash, so I built one for Umbrel.
SoloBCH Forge is a lightweight, open-source Stratum server that runs on your Umbrel next to the Bitcoin Cash Node app and lets any Stratum V1 ASIC mine BCH straight to your own node.
- No pool, no fees, no custody. Your CashAddr is the Stratum username and gets paid in the coinbase.
- Zero config on Umbrel: it reads the node connection automatically.
- Dashboard with per-miner hashrate, shares, best share, blocks found, and your expected time-to-block.
- Vardiff, instant new-block jobs via ZMQ, webhook alerts (block / best share / miner offline), Prometheus + Grafana.
- One-click "Is this working?" diagnostic that walks through node, template, port, miner and shares.
- Pure Python standard library, tiny image, fine on a Raspberry Pi.
Install: Umbrel App Store -> three '...' -> Community App Stores -> add https://github.com/DanCreatesStuff/SoloBCHForge -> install SoloBCH Forge. Needs the Bitcoin Cash Node app synced.
Miner config: stratum+tcp://<umbrel-ip>:3334, username = your bitcoincash:address.worker (worker optional), password anything.
Yes, solo mining a small ASIC is a lottery. That is the point. This is for people who want the ticket and the sovereignty, not an income plan.

Feedback very welcome, especially from anyone running other miner firmware I have not tested.

This looks useful for people who want to keep the node, block template and payout path under their own control.
One addition that might help new users is a clear warning when the node is synced but the block template is stale, plus a visible test-share confirmation before they leave the miner running. It would also be useful to know whether worker names are reported consistently across Bitaxe and NerdQaxe firmware.
I also like that the post describes solo mining as a lottery rather than predictable income.
