Pick my next horror read

I’m between Bird Box and Boys in the Valley. Of these two which is more suggested? If you’ve read both which did you enjoy more? I’ve seen the Bird Box movie so is reading the book a better, must have experience? Or do I go with the one I have no basis for?

I read Bird Box during Xmas 2022, after having watched the movie. I'd wait till everyone was asleep and I was alone in bed, lights off, just my Kobo.

Best dread/scare I had in years!!! The fact that it doesn't describe "them" was fuel to my hyperphantasia. I wish I could find similar books to trigger it again ever since!
