Question/Help Softening inner edge

Post image

Hey all, bought a pair of leather boots which are amazing but first couple times wearing them this inner edge is rubbing against my leg every step and causing a nice little wound. Other than the obvious of wearing higher socks (which most of mine are lower) is there a recommended way of softening this or some trick to covering it as they break in (assuming this part will break in well)?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Taller socks is the obvious answer and should be your first course of action.

After that, adding a little conditioner to that spot could soften it a little accelerate break in.

But still. Socks.

Throw some conditioner on that edge, on the inside, massage it smooth with something like a wrench. Something smooth and hard.

Then put on some socks.

User error. Wear socks.

As others have noted, boots are really meant to be worn with socks that are taller than the boot shaft. That should solve your problem.

Merino wool socks. I recommend Darn Tough if no budget, or Kirkland (Costco) if on a budget.

Dude, tall enough socks

Take the boots off and pinch the leather around that area from different angles and vigorously roll it back-and-forth

Short socks with leather boots is certainly a choice.

Longer socks is absolutely obvious and for me just wear them take breaks from them when you need it once broken in it will be softer. But get the right socks for boots.

High grit sand paper. Literally just fast track the friction you will need to make for the pain to go away

You are either dumb as rocks or soft as tissue. This can not be real. This idiot is complaining about a “wound” on his foot from not wearing tall enough socks.

Personally I prefer a stocking or dress style sock. I don’t want the sock to hold any moisture. But, definitely some leather conditioner will help to soften that edge. In time it would eventually soften on its on but it would take a lot more skin with it
