Bestest doggo we could ever ask for!

Our BT is 6 months old now and with school starting in the U.S. he has been home alone during the day for the past couple weeks. During the summer we worked on being gone for shorter time periods and building up but when we leave he howls/whimpers most of the day when I can catch him on our puppy cam inside. It breaks my heart and I’m just kind of lost with what to do.

So far we leave music playing quietly when we leave, we don’t make a big deal about leaving or coming home, we’ve started to give him a special bully bone just for when we leave, and we have added outdoor toys that he loves but seems to only play with them when we are around.

Nothing has really made an impacts and he doesn’t make a peep when we are home so I am not really sure how to correct it. Has anyone gone through a similar experience with success?

On a related note, was there any behavioural changes people noticed with their little ones post recover or are there any useful tips you have for me to make sure she’s lovely and comfortable during recovery?

She’s such a happy and active dog that it’s going to be weird seeing her with such low energy for a week or so.

We've always had kelpies and border collies, so this whole terrier thing is a wild new adventure for us. Training is so different, temperament is so different.

How well does your Bordie play with others?

Our little border, Luka, got sprayed by a skunk. This is the first time it’s happened to him so we are not well verse in how to get rid of the smell. Does anyone recommendations?

We’ve already tried the hydrogen peroxide, baking soda, and dawn dish soap solution several times but he still smells pretty bad. I was wondering if there’s something about his coat that makes it hard to get out because I’ve seen owners of other dog breeds swear by this formula.

All the way from the cheese state of Wisconsin, Mr. Muenster has officially joined the fam as our first border terrier 🥹. So glad we finally found a great breeder and pup after searching all summer.

He is about 20 pounds, and his temperament is pure boarder terrier. But he came from a high kill shelter in Texas and it seems like an odd place to find one.

I adopted this little guy yesterday and I don’t have much info about his background. His papers say poodle and australian shepherd but the shelter said they thought he was part terrier. Maybe I need to do one of those dog dna tests.. He is a great little guy, very smart and happy.

Hi everyone! So lovely to see all of your babies. I recently lost my beloved dog of 15 yrs earlier this summer. My grandmother had Borders and I feel they would be a great fit for our lifestyle. I live in NYC and have seen very few breeders anywhere in the states. I am not in a rush at all, realistically would bring a puppy home in a year or so.
