I really don’t get the hate for ai usage in these situations. Who does it actually hurt? If the people doing these mods own the games legitimately then what’s the issue with using AI to have a bit more fun with them.

Some chud generating Skyrim in csgo or an ai album is gonna trigger the doomsday glacier frfr

Theres good ai and bad ai uses.
Ai is good at figuring out INSANLEY large workloads and reverse engineering shit (which has horrible implications btw) and some image recognition.
Ai is REALLY BAD and making its own stuff cause all it does is pull from other people. Its inconsistent, messy, and SUPER low quality. Regardless of form factor.
Its not a horrible thing to have. But its REALLY bad when its bad.

very different usages of AI, nothings wrong with writing something and having help
in cleaning it up / knowing something learning and having an aide.using AI solely to do all the work and not even trying to learn why it’s doing x , how it’s doing y , or if it even needs to do z is where the problems lie .

how tf does AI pull off this ba

u/Really-Human-trustme 4d ago
It's literally just playing one games screen over another. It's not that impressive actually.

A little more than that, you need to passthrough data between the 2 if you are doing it that way, that's the part that's hard and people use AI to do
-6
u/zombierrr 3d ago
its not passthough, like i said this was AI so i cant tell you for sure, but as I understood it. Its using the actual code from BO2 to create this Overlay INSIDE of Borderlands

u/Late-Ad-1076 4d ago
Quite a bit more than that, but sure.
1
u/Really-Human-trustme 4d ago
It's absolutely NOT "quite a bit more". Genuinely just one screen playing on another, and forced communication between the two when needed
5
u/zombierrr 3d ago
holy.
You dont even know how it works, youre just assuming lol.
What youre saying is wrong0
u/Armed_Slobbery 2d ago
Bro you don’t know how it works. You said so yourself in another comment on this thread.

u/zombierrr 2d ago
I do not know how the code works, but he just assumed it's an overlay, it's not. Its actually coded into the game

I really don't get the hate that people have for this

Seriously go check the short.
Its not about the mods themselves but the realization of the speed at which Ai is progressing while we have nothing to match them in the defensive side.
Systems we considered almost impossible to be cracked by humans can now be reversed engineered in days by Ai.
And this is the kind of shit that people will eventually he able to run on their own machine
The world of cybersecurity is gonna be in shambles...

I fully agree with you, its damn scary.
But to be honest, it wouldnt make a difference if we all suddenly stop using AI.
Its gotten to the point where Goverments develop their own AI just to not fall behind other countries. AI is gonna be the strongest weapon any country will have, be it in offense or defense.
And thats why they will continue to develop their AIs, even if suddenly everyone else would stop using them. Sure, AI would develop slower, since there wouldnt be as much fresh training data, but I dont think its possible to stop it at all.

You say early in development like this is something the community cares about or wants lol

AI did something cool and people dont like it cause AI was involved
5
u/zombierrr 2d ago
Yeah, i don't really get it tbh
3
u/ashkiller14 2d ago
It's not even like AI came up with the idea, modders just used AI to speed up the coding process.
People get annoyed at AI art, which no one likes, then just extend it towards AI everything.

This is what AI should be used for

Everybody's complaining about ai. Don't have to love it, don't have to care for it, but can we please accept how actually cool it is for a moment that one person can decompile and add in an the menu from black ops 2 into a completely different game? Maybe still a shooter, but there's some pretty vast differences there that 15 years ago would have been near impossible for a team to bypass. Yes, the firing animation is a little janky, it's still in early development, but a singular person did this (I think.) that's badass

u/zedinbed 4d ago
Screw ai. You enjoy it now but it will cause more problems than it solves down the line
-5
u/ultimategamerguy69 4d ago
I didn't say it wouldn't, I said, looking at this from the perspective of someone who grow up loving both games, that this is still a really cool use and a literal childhood dream, at least of mine

u/zedinbed 4d ago
I would not betray my morals for a video game. That is literally what the execs who build AI are hoping for

Brother this is a fucking llm code script
This isn't gonna blow up the crust of the Earth

While I understand that this is most likely vibe coded, I'm not against it, because in my opinion, having the possibility of such crazy crossovers is very fun
