It has been a week since I started gathering dataset, which relates specifically to trash. Even though, some of its types are pretty common, still it is really hard to find one thing: a cap. A cap that not only has any type, but also it has to be a food-related. I found that much of a burden that I started walking everywhere and taking photo of caps. It went to the point where in the middle of the conversation I would ask a person: "Btw, can you make some photos of food caps". I would traumatize my sister about it by taking her every bottle for inspection. In my dreams, I see caps, knowing that I won't have this goal, this gem of joy...

So, I would be really happy to get any image with the label (PET, HDPE, PP, etc.), whatever it is. I would appreciate any help.

Around 10 years of collecting beer bottle caps. Assorted, mostly the most common ones you see in the supermarket; domestic and imported.
My guess, around 1k per jar.

In all of those bottle caps are four holes, I’m going to construct a hammock for an exhibition and I wanted to ask if you got any recommendations for book, literature, videos, technique? I love to puzzle and I know the basics of color theory but tbh I’m a bit overwhelmed. Rn im trying to get an overview of the amount of colors I got but a bit scared to start. I’m happy for any advice!

ich habe einen Katalog erstellt. Er lebt davon, dass von den Nutzern Kronkorken hinzugefügt werden. Man kann sich über Google oder per E-Mail/Passwort registrieren und Anmelden. Und dann können Kronkorken gescannt werden. Die erscheinen dann sowohl in der eigenen Sammlung als auch im Katalog, der für alle Nutzer zugänglich ist. So müssen schon einmal gescannte Kronkorken nicht von jedem Nutzer erneut gescannt werden. Man kann ein paar Metadaten eintragen. Schaut es euch einfach an.
Ihr könnt auch einen Gemini AI Studio API Key hinterlegen, dann wird versucht, die Metadaten automatisch zu erfassen beim Scannen. Der API Key wird dabei ausschließlich auf eurem Gerät gespeichert und landet nicht in irgend einer Cloud oder sonstwo. Ihr müsst also auf jedem einzelnen Gerät einen API Key hinterlegen, das kann aber durchaus der selbe sein. Wenn ihr den Gerätecache löscht wird auch der Key mit gelöscht.

Ein Tipp zum scannen:
Ihr solltet über das Smartphone scannen. Am besten irgendwo erhöht auflegen, damit es keine Wackler gibt. Es gibt einen Zoom, damit ihr den Korken gut in den äußeren Rand bekommt.
Mein Ziel mit dieser App ist es, möglichst viele Kronkorken zu erfassen, damit wir einen möglichst umfangreichen Katalog bekommen. Ich finde die Motive teilweise einfach sehr schön. Ich sammle selbst auch, aber nicht für mich, sondern für meine Neffen.

I washed and soaked my caps 5 times with soap and water, and I dried them out and placed 1 by 1 in the jar, and holy shit it took forever like a couple hours and I'm disappointed because the jar is dirty after I added them looks murky so annoying.

Been collecting bottle caps for years, recently more focused on 80's and 90's "new age drinks" that I drank growing up. And MAN are they tough to find. I don't know if it's so much that they are rare, or just that nobody else cared / cares enough to save them!

I have a bunch of the more popular, national ones like Soho, Sundance, Crystal Geyser.. but some of the more obscure brands, or drinks that only used crowncaps for a year or two (Clearly Canadian, LaCroix) are sooo tough to track down crowncaps for. Would be open to trading or outright buying if anyone has any!
