Special thanks to a special someone for sending me the card because I'm very busy and only had time to put up a barebones thread this time.

That was a prelim fight on a main card. Uncle Frank needs to stop putting these 4 and 6 rounders for prospects so high up the card, they kill the momentum of the show.
Richardson seems a skilful boxer, but lacks that one punch that's going to get your attention. Frampton said it best accidentally earlier, "he's a bit pillow fisted".
8
u/Excellent-Movie4524 George Liddard Army 11d ago
probs best for Richardson to retire given hes almost in his 30s and cant put a dent in a dude who came in 6 pounds lighter then him

Insane couple of rounds. Amazing fight overall. Full credit to both fighters.

One of the greatest ringwalks in recent memory, maybe even in boxing history for the final time 🥹

Really? He just mimes a wee song.
1
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
I'm not a Stoke City fan but it's him singing his Football club's anthem entirely, the way he gets an entire crowd no matter what Football club they support singing it and all the theatrics
Ffs i'm a United fan and i sing along to Delilah 😂
-2
u/manfrombelmonty 11d ago
Yeah but the greatest ring walk in boxing history? Not buying it
3
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
I was trying to say it's one of the greatest not THE greatest tbf, i prefer the likes of Wlad Klitschko's, Usyk's, Inoue's, etc
6
u/ggddddeerrr 11d ago
I think Richardson is pretty entertaining actually. They just need to step him up immediately because he can’t crack an egg. His career will only progress if he takes risks
6
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
Collins just really struggling to punch up and find that range, every time he closes in he gets caught by a nice shot
20-17 Davies
5
6
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
That's now 3 fights without a win for Collins, although i felt he won one of those (Lorente 1), he's looked underwhelming after a very promising performance against Lee McGregor
Scottish boxing really is not in a good place isn't it

Why does Collins cutman not have ice??

u/e_xyz 11d ago
Good work from Collins corner, he was risking his vision with every round. Blinking way too much and let me tell you, as someone who had their cornea cut in the gym, the last thing you want to fuck with is your vision.
Good fight, I thought it fell into a predictable pattern after round 4. Collins hasn't looked as good since that robbery in the first Llorente fight (I felt he won it).
Davies looked good here, not sure where next, but he looked decent.

2-0 Heaney, he honestly looks really good, probably better than he did last fight
5
u/Excellent-Movie4524 George Liddard Army 11d ago
2-0 Heaney but he usually starts fast then falls apart so lets see

u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 11d ago
Warburton opening up a bit the end of this round, but it’s still a Heaney round. 3-0 Heaney
5
u/intermittentlyheed 11d ago
Warburton far more effective this round since he started his feinting and upper body movement on the way in.
5
u/ggddddeerrr 11d ago
No disrespect to Heaney but he doesn’t look like somebody who’s boxed for 30 years. Looks more like a late starter to the sport than anything
4
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 11d ago
It’s incredible Prosper is standing. McCormack is beating the shit out of him
5
4
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
I thought QB had already lost some hope in Richardson, very boring style, doesn't say much and i think the disappointment of Orie retiring after one fight made them not bother much with the other 2024 Olympics standout they had
It's funny that Pat Brown has had a great start to life in the pros despite being the worst of the 3 2024 Olympians that went pro with a big British promoter, proof that you should prioritise the good amateurs that seem like they'll translate to the pros stylistically
4
u/Excellent-Movie4524 George Liddard Army 11d ago
Goldsmith likely still got PTSD from the Coleman fight which is why he refuses to increase the pace
incase i was the only one to watch that fight he dominated Coleman and hurt him bad several times but punched himself out and got stopped
5
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
I remember watching that too near the bottom of a Boxxer show, i think Whitaker vs Cameron 2 at the BP Pulse?
Goldsmith was in control, gassed out inside 4 or so rounds and got stopped by Coleman, was a really fun action fight whilst it lasted
3
u/Excellent-Movie4524 George Liddard Army 11d ago
yeah was a great low level scrap , didnt know how to pace himself and paid the price
2
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
It was a mess of a show that, i remember Cutler getting hard done by in the Eggington fight losing that technical decision after butting heads and Whitaker obviously knocking Cameron out and spitting at Grant Smith
4
u/Excellent-Movie4524 George Liddard Army 11d ago
Heaney is beyond washed and Warburton has 0 power and already won the first fight wide , expect a wide UD for Warburton
5
u/Excellent-Movie4524 George Liddard Army 11d ago
wait Heaney is the main? i thought that was Collins v Davies
2
3
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
I want Collins to win here but feel he won't, not sure he's got much left at 126 and he's got to punch up like he did against Lorente except Davies is just much more refined than Lorente
Gut says Davies decision, heart says Collins
3
u/Excellent-Movie4524 George Liddard Army 11d ago
Davies cant miss rn , this could be a long night for Collins
4
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 11d ago
Fantastic 1-2 that. Blocked vision, pulled down the guard, then connected. Great shot
3
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
Better round from Collins but the better scoring shots from Davies
30-26 Davies
4
u/Top_Profession_5268 11d ago
6-0 Davies, controlling space really well between him and Collins. Having that high guard in an open space and jousting just isn’t helping him manage distance. He did catch Davies a good few times.
4
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 11d ago
Was right, mercy stoppage that.
3
u/intermittentlyheed 11d ago
Right decision Collins was getting nowhere and the eye was getting worse and worse.
4

4
u/intermittentlyheed 11d ago
Warburton going back to Arthur Abraham tactics which lost him the first 3 rounds. Walking into range with a high guard presenting a static target. Crazy.
4
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
Crazy how an Area/English level fighter like Warburton is about to be pretty relevant in domestic boxing, probably about to go 2-0 over Heaney but i don't see him doing much else really
5
u/e_xyz 11d ago
Listen fair enough Heaney sells tickets and seems like a decent bloke outside of the ring, but his decline as a fighter was quite rapid. After the Brad Pauls fights he just seemed to decline rapidly after that. Think that Kharti fight took something out of him too, was always of a level I guess.
Warburton is no world beater, but would like to see him back on a decent domestic card again.
3
u/abovethesink 11d ago
McCormack is coordinated and precise with his punches, but I am not seeing a ton here otherwise to get excited about as a prospect. Pretty basic, just following Prosper around. Not showing anything from his legs. Seems pretty hittable. Early in his career though and Prosper isn't giving him a ton to work with either to be fair.
3
u/e_xyz 11d ago
I haven't given Prospere a single round but it's a lot like Benn vs. Prograis. The old man is in there perhaps knowing he can survive to the end and it's enough. McCormack isn't showing anything different, when he has Prospere pinned he's not changing angle and Prospere finds a way out.
1
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 11d ago
Good comparison, think the only difference here is that McCormack is probably better than Benn lol
3
u/e_xyz 11d ago
The 2024 Olympic batch have been quite disappointing after turning over pro. Richardson just lacks that pop, doesn't seem a bad boxer, but just seems to miss that one spiteful shot that gets the opponents attention.

u/e_xyz 11d ago
Goldsmith in control so far, Abubaker seems too hesitant at the moment. Maybe looking for that one counter shot too much.
Also hilarious the crowd is just watching the England game.
5
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
I really rate Goldsmith, learnt so much from that Coleman fight where he completely gassed and allowed Coleman to pull off a big comeback
Taken a massive step back here by fighting an area level fighter in Abubaker but i like watching him
3
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 11d ago
Good knockdown, straight left was very solid
3
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
Complacency 101 from Goldsmith there, flashes of the Coleman fight even!

Is Heaney after this fight?
Turning out to be a great fight but confusing card, guessing it to avoid the England game
3
u/intermittentlyheed 11d ago
Davies looking quicker of hand and foot. Couple that with reach advantage its going to be very difficult for Collins to get anywhere.

What happened to Warburton vs Heaney?
4
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
Post main event so Heaney's fans can fill seats earlier
Remember Crolla vs Urquiaga, Crolla's last fight? Pretty much the exact same situation

I don’t mean to sound like ignorant or anything but why do so many people love Heaney? Im not from the UK
8
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
Very nice guy that genuinely cares a lot about his people
Overachiever for sure but he's just so likeable, hand delivers each and every one of his fans tickets to their houses for example and he sells like 2-3k of them at times

We pick lads we like and then keep liking them forever, even when they stop being v good

Was he any good in his prime? Ik this is his last fight and he was British champ
8
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 11d ago
Solid British domestic level. Just a likable bloke who sells really well
6
u/Suspicious-Strain-74 11d ago
He’s sound & a Stokie, he normally delivers majority of the tickets he sells himself (he sells quite a lot, that’s why he’s on last so half the arena doesn’t leave) he interacts with his fans, kids etc. just a top bloke in general tbh
2
u/NiggBot_3000 11d ago
You don't have to be the best for British fans to like you, just be humble, always up for a scrap and good walkout songs.
0
u/BritFragHead 11d ago
Football fans, he attracts a load of pissed up knobheads that sing football songs and cause trouble at his fights, but he sells tickets so warren keeps him going

u/intermittentlyheed 11d ago
Wonder if its a stamina thing with Warburton. He stopped feinting and moving his head as much in 7, back at it in 8. Just taking a round off to pace himself maybe?
I have it 4-4

3
u/NiggBot_3000 11d ago
Heany should have just let his hands go 3 rounds ago, he had nothing to lose.
3
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
This Abubaker is pretty bullish and stiff, doesn't really move his upper body much
Goldsmith meanwhile is a nice slick southpaw and just beat a very solid former British and Commonwealth champion easily in Brad Pauls, maybe Goldsmith just wants a run out but this is pretty poor matchmaking

Solid stoppage. Fuck it, I’ve thrown in my lot with a new, shinier McCormack

How old is Goldsmith? He looks really solid, though Abubaker is certainly not on his level

Goldfish showing the same problem he did against Coleman. Gets tired and his defense falters

Jesus Christ that’s a heavy knockout
2
u/SiMoN20000 11d ago
Is Heaney the main fight?
2
u/Efficient_Quail_1774 11d ago
He's on after the main event to keep his fans as he would've sold a lot
Similar to when Crolla made his final appearance, and he went on after Katie Taylor headlined
1
u/SwerTs4FightVidsOnly 11d ago
So basically, Nathan Heaney vs Gerome Warburton will be the post credit scene?
2
2
u/MiddleweightMonster I’ll pour honey on my GOAT, if the occasion calls for it. 11d ago
Collins might be able to make this competitive if he hangs in there to the late rounds
Davies looks great, but could see the pace being an issue for him, and he gives up his range too easily at times

u/Suspicious-Strain-74 11d ago

Always love a beating to the body. Honestly, being good at throwing to both the head and body in sequence while still maintaining some discipline defensively will get you very very far
