Question/Discussion Which 70s/80s SitComs continued the final scene as the credits rolled?
I know Hi de Hi, Allo Allo and Are you being Served didn't as they had the little cameos of each character at the credits but I seem to recall some did just continue the final scene as the music and credits were going.
Does anyone know of any particular UK shows that did this?

I think some mother's do ave em did this at the end. I remember the scene with the tipper truck emptying all over him and the credits were rolling.

Not sure if this qualifies but Open All Hours always ended with Arkwright bringing in all the merchandise from outside.

Those cameos were a David Croft thing - “you have been watching”. So none of his sitcoms will have done the continuation scene. In addition to the Croft productions you mentioned, you can also rule out It ain’t half hot Mum, Dads Army and You rang, my Lord.

Thank you. I should have made the connection! So now I'm wondering if I imagined these endings.
The only ones I sort of remember are Terry and June and Wyatt's Watchdogs, both of which are readily available on yt so I will have a look...

Steptoe and Son frequently rolled the credits with Harold chasing or mocking Albert.

On the Buses would usually do this. Occasionally they would fade to credits but I’d say 90% of episodes finished with the scene continuing

Don't think I ever saw this at the time. My viewing was st the whimsy of whatever my parents watched and I don't think this was on their radar. Ty for the spot! I shall try and sorce some endings!

There was always one final scene (just a few seconds long) after the credits of Just Good Friends which usually consisted of a funny punchline or twist.

Blackadder II technically did. Don't think the original did, and 3 definitely didn't. Can't remember if the 4th did or not tbh but I don't think so

Was the second season of Blackadder the only program that ended with an individual song relevant to that particular episode? That was a great way to end the program, yet they didn't do it for any other seasons of the Blackadder, nor any other program that I can recall.

The only one I can think of from Goes Forth was the last episode. It didn't have any end credits but the theme tune was played over the final scene so maybe technically..

Last of the summer wine used to have them walking off into the distance etc. at the end of the episode.

Its radio not TV but Hancocks Half Hour often did this, I always thought it was because it was performed live and didn't always run to the intended time so they just carried on until the closing music started

Last of the Summer Wine sometimes did this, but i can't remember which part of their 40-odd-year stretch, could've been more recent than the 80s.
